I still can't believe this, I had a dream last night after finishing watching the sad game with spurs; our guards were terrible and I started to shop around for CD and I was turned down by the blazers for the MoTaylor trade, and then I kept going around and finally I got M.James and brought him to meet all the guys in houston, and then TMac said, "good job, qian.....' ;)

I watched James playing several years ago in Miami and he indeed was strong on defense and good at shooting the 3s. Great great addition.

The key thing for me is that James has earned minutes within a winning system when he was with the Detroit Pistons (esp. under Larry Brown). I think that says a lot about a player even moreso than stats.

This guy reminds me a lot of Vinnie Johnson, his shot is somewhat simliar, his build is very much like the "Microwaves," and from the games I have seen, he has a nose for scoring.

I like this trade, but it doesn't fill the hole. We also need a big guard who can rebound.

Think he's saying Sura starting, James on the bench will make our bench better. James is a much better option off the bench than Strickland.

We now match up better against the Suns and Spurs with both those teams having lightning quick point guards. James will ball hawk Nash from end to end. JVG must be ecstatic about this.

So we picked up Mike James.

    Got rid of Reece Gaines.

And kept our number one pick.

for the cost of a big chunk of our TE and a couple of 2nd round picks.

    Nice job CD!

We've been spoiled with rebounding PFs with Francis/Sura. But don't forget that most PGs don't rebound nearly as much as Sura.

But James is a good shooter, a solid ball handler and passer. I would have almost taken anything at this point. James is a solid pickup for sure.

I wonder how we pulled off this trade without dumping someone. We already had 15 players on the roster pre-trade. If Hamilton was included, someone had to have been dropped unless roster space has no effect on trades.

The lord works in mysterious ways, we can thank Strick for getting us James. If he played 1/2 decently this trade might not have went down. Rod, thanks for 17 great years in the NBA, but you should retire, its time.

A little more info on who we sent:

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3055572

For the second consecutive season, Mike James will replace Bob Sura in a NBA rotation. The Rockets can only hope the results will be as good.

This time, the move is more temporary, with the Rockets trading for James on Thursday to help fill the void while Sura is out with a sore lower back.

The Rockets sent Milwaukee native Reece Gaines to the Bucks to get James, a 6-2 guard.

With the acquisition of James, the Rockets will move Sura to the injured list and waive Rod Strickland, who started the past two games.

To make the deal work financially, the Rockets sent their trade exception to Milwaukee for James, and Gaines to the Bucks for center Zendon Hamilton, whom they will release.

Last season, the Pistons picked up James in the trade deadline deal for Rasheed Wallace, sending Sura to Atlanta. He signed with the Rockets as a free agent and helped key the Rockets turnaround from their early-season struggles while he rehabilitated after back surgery.

James, 29, signed a three-year, $10.2 million deal with the Bucks in August, but was backing up starter Maurice Williams while T.J. Ford is out for the season.

The Rockets were close to a deal for James in December that would have sent Gaines and Bostjan Nachbar to Milwaukee. Nachbar was instead dealt to New Orleans with Jim Jackson to acquire David Wesley.

James averaged 11.4 points per game, making 44.6 percent of his shots this season, and 38 percent from the 3-point line.

Damn!! After the beating he took on this board for like 2 years, Carroll Dawson has spent this season putting his dick in our collective mouth.

I Don't know much about James, but I like that 3 pt %. There's no way anyone can hate on the deal because we gave up virtually nothing and got a rotation player in return. The Bucs must need cash bad; if I was Redd, I'd need some big bucks to stay there, too.

    See ya in hell, Strickland!

Great trade, the JVG/CD team has done a great job of going out and getting the right pieces. Wesley/Barry/Sura and now James.
