Mike James was tearing it up with Boston at the beginning of last year with the 3's. Really haven't heard as much from him since he was injured, but he'll be a great badly needed addition. Nice move CD. Anyone know if we're still trying to get DA or are we done?
Plus it helps that they play the Utah Jazz. They won't be running him out there against the likes of the Sonics or Spurs.
wow Gaines sure is injury prone.. from rockets.com "Gaines leaves the Rockets with averages of 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10 games with Houston. After arriving in a seven-player offseason trade with Orlando on June 29, the 6-6, 205-pound guard spent time on the injured list with left foot, plantar fasciitis from Nov. 1-Dec. 2, left ankle tendinitis from Dec. 15-26 and left patellar tendinitis from Jan. 16-Feb. 24. " hehe I feel sorry for the guy in that JVG doesnt really give rookies a chance. It makes it more tough that rookies usually learn/pick up their defense later in their career and focus on scoring in the beginning. The opposite of what JVG wants. To really make a playoff run dont you think we need to develop some young talent? I would like one more solid PF then we are set and we can bring in young guys (rookies or soph) and let our vets teach them the game. J
Well, it's a done deal.. its on Rockets.com Houston Rockets Acquire James and Hamilton HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets have acquired guard Mike James and forward Zendon Hamilton from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guard Reece Gaines and two future second-round draft picks, Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson announced today. “Mike James is a talented point guard who gives us another offensive threat,” said Dawson. “We’ve been interested in Mike for some time now, and we really like the defensive toughness that he brings.” After signing with Milwaukee this offseason, James ranked third on the Bucks with a career-high 11.4 points per game and second on the team with 3.9 assists per game. The 6-2, 188-pound guard also stood second on Milwaukee with 58 3-pointers made and 152 3-pointers attempted for a 3-point percentage of .382. He set career highs with 28 points, eight 3-pointers made and 13 3-pointers attempted on Feb. 8 vs. Boston. He delivered a career-high 11 assists on Nov. 23 at the Lakers. Among NBA players without a start, he trails only Seattle’s Vladimir Radmanovic in scoring average. In 47 games, James led the Bucks in points six times and assists 13 times. He has scored in double figures 28 times, reaching 20 points on five occasions. In his fourth NBA season, James holds averages of 8.8 points, 3.6 assists and 0.93 steals in 211 career games with Miami, Boston, Detroit and Milwaukee. James began his NBA career as an undrafted free agent with the Heat, for whom he averaged 7.0 points and 2.8 assists in 93 games over a two-year stretch. Prior to last season, he signed as a free agent with Boston, where he averaged 10.7 points and 4.4 assists over the first 55 games of the year. James was traded at midseason of last year to Detroit, where he averaged 6.3 points and won an NBA Championship. Hamilton is averaging 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds with Milwaukee this season. The 6-11, 254-pound forward has averaged 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 122 career games with the LA Clippers, Denver, Toronto, Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Gaines leaves the Rockets with averages of 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10 games with Houston. 16-Feb. 24.
Please. First you attempt to scold the board on not knowing how the NBA works, and then you admit to not knowing who Mike James is, a key rotation player on last year's championship team, and a target of the Rockets this summer? I already said it. The trade exception expires before free agency. If the options aren't out there now, they won't be there then. Unless your argument is that the 2 mill increase in team salary from Gaines to James will make it cost preventative to acquire a "bigger, stronger PF"...you have no argument.
Great, GREAT trade for the Rockets. A friend of mine, who is a Piston fan, has a fantasy league team called "Misser Of Mike James." If his head's on straight, he'll be tremendous in Houston.
What I like best is this year his assists to turnover ratio is: 1.7 TO 3.9 assists and his career is: 1.5 TO 3.6 assists Turnovers are more important than assists in my mind with a point guard. Just last night when the game was on the line the Rox couldn't even get into their offensive sets. Mostly because they don't have a point guard whose not going to turn in over when he's pressured. I love this move! Great work CD
RocketScientist You just got PWNED. go ahead and leave this board and never return...you have been shownup for the fool you are. Credibility?? you lost what little you may have had.
This reminds me of Dumb and Dumber where Jim Carrey trades the Van for a mini bike and jeff Daniels says "Just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber, you go and do this and toally redeem yourself" Why the first rounder? i forgot, JVG doesn't play rookies so we would have to send them someplace for development so we could overpay to get them back anyway!
Wow, 5 (current and ex) all stars on the same team! Are there any other teams with 5 or more all stars?
wow i'm so excited to see what mike james can do for this team. he can penetrate and take it to the hole, but also kick out to our shooters. great to have him on board. his three point shooting should help us tremendously!
