Do you really want me to out your comments at the time from your past life on the board? This won't be pretty.
He looked bad in many nights and he will continue to look bad if he doesn't adapt to the system. I don't think he'll be getting his minutes back. Head and Brooks are better now. And RAfer is improving a lot.
I know at some point I said that MJ was not the answer at point guard and I remember not being all excited about the deal for Mike James. I didn't get excited until Francis was also signed. If I jumped on the wagon, it wasn't until very late in the summer, but when the trade first happened, I wasn't that impressed. I'm pretty sure of it.
Mike James is a shooter. IMO a good shooter will always be a good shooter, barring injuries. Mike is in a definite slump now, but he's shown this season how well he can shoot it. But its gonna be hard to crack the rotation with Alston, Head, and Brooks ahead of him, and also Francis looking to return soon.
Yeah, James is a shooter. Not a scorer, a shooter. I had to vote a 1* on this thread though, just cause you shouldnt kick a guy when he is down. I think James of all people felt the worst about his shooting. To be fair though, his first drive where Scola got the putback he was fouled and it wasnt called, at least it looked that way on TV. Thats why he was upset.
I have never been a fan of MJ but I do admit I pull for him to earn his minutes back. However, I think his confidence is shattered with the slump and knowing that more than likely AB has cemented in front of him on the rotation. MJ and SF are done ... I am not too happy about it either.
is james' career shooting % that much different from rafer's? his only statistical good year was in toronto, and that was his contract year, if i remembered correctly. imo now he's got the money he wanted (even got the trade kicker paid to him), he's lost a lot of passion that i saw in him in the past. he's got the big $$ he'd always wanted, probably the last big contract in his career and he knew it. his body language and facial expressions tonight to me read - "screw it, now i'm playing garbage time? but hey, what do i care, i've got the contract..."
Ah, so he's mentally fragile as well. Rafer had alleged altercations with the law thrown his way, yet he seems to not let that affect his play on the court. Red flag No. 1 should have been when he couldn't even beat out Randy Foye for PT. It's going to be hilariously funny if James is traded AGAIN from the rockets at midseason.
He's a much better scorer and shooter than Rafer. But the problem is that that's all James can do. He doesn't rebound. He's allergic to passing. And he doesn't defend. At least when Rafer is missing shots, he's still controlling tempo, setting up guys, rebounding and being a floor leader. If we can get ANYTHING for James at the deadline, we need to do it. That goes for Francis as well since both are dead weights taking up precious roster space.
Though it would have been nice, you can not expect a guy to redeem himself in one night. He has been borderline scarred over the past few games. Think about it. The last time he has been benched was like Miami? He still gets paid, and should be better.
The best thing about the MJ trade was getting Justin Reed and then having to cut him and pay him. Wow, that trade sucked balls. And we signed Steve Francis to boot! Those moves have come to fruition and looks like the AB draft pick was far better than both. Irony.
The bad thing about Francis was that he got his shot at playing time at exactly the same time that the team was going through a meltdown. Frankly I'd rather see Francis get some playing time ahead of James. At least he's out there on the bench cheering for the team. James doesn't look happy and I don't think he's cheering.
I've been telling everyone about this all along, but people here always think the other side grass is greener.
I agree he has sucked pretty bad lately, but the 2004-2005 year mike james in my mind is a 6man of the year candidate. I was exited we got him again, but yet I agree we should just trade him.
Mike James' games is all about heart and fire. After he signed that contract with T-wolves and get his wish traded back to Houston, his wife hometown, he lost his fire, heart and the passion to the game. Adding to the fact he is getting old, there is no suprised he is sucking now!
The problem I hve with Mike James is not how he plays, but how the rest of the team plays when he is on the floor. And unfortunately the rest ot the team never seems to play well with Mike. And that goes back to his first stint.
