but I just want to see Sura there getting Yao, Howard, Wesley and Tmac involved early (like a realy PG) James is such a deadly shooter - I see him coming in and scoring with that scond unit... then in the 4th when EVERYONE on the floors needs to have offensive game - you go with James or Sura (which ever has been hotter)
And if that becomes problematic, we can insert James into the lineup. However, once Sura gets his legs again, I suspect his shot will come back. Besides, one of Sura's strengths is his ability to get the defense off balance when they sag off of him. He can penetrate to the lane or the baseline and creates lots of open looks for people that are much better shooters.
Sura should and will start. JVG knows why. I watched many games including 8-streak games. Mike is another scorer on the floor. Sura... welll, you can tell his presence on the floor from a satelite picture. Leadership is something that counts more than FG percentage. And I don't know where you Fegwu got that Mike runs a better fast break. Short memory is also something that should be addressed to you. It was good that Sura was on the floor in the fourth. He JUST came back from an injury! He needs to be his old self ASAP. By sitting him, that wouldn't be quite soon. During 8W streak, was it okay that he was on the floor in the fourth? Come on.
Boy is it great having this problem - how to rotate Sura, James, Wesley and Barry? Much better and positive topic, rather than who is worse Ward or Lue? Life is good. JVG will figure it out. 96 minutes between the 4, fresh legs coming in all the time, and a chance to not wear Bobby out by season end. And perhaps give James and Barry TMac's bench minutes - which are all of about 7?
Mike JAmes is a good scoring option off the bench but in terms of running the point, Sura is still better and should start games to get the engine running, as it were.
If James is able to pour in 20 off the bench, why not keep him there? It's certainly not fair to judge Sura coming off injury when he's not playing his best ball yet, and we haven't seen Sura coming off the bench. If James is showing he's effective as a bona fide scorer off the bench, and Sura is rock solid as a starter, there's no problem. James has played extremely well off the bench, and gives us a consistent scorer there- something we haven't had since Mo Taylor last year. The questions will be if/when Sura plays good ball again, who is playing at the end of the games? Wesley has played fantastic the past few games. Sura and James haven't been on the floor together yet, so I'm interested in seeing if JVG will mix and match.
Sura is playing pathetic. It's one thing to not have your shooting touch but he forces the action way too much. He needs the game to come to him. Regardless of who starts, Mike James should play the crunch time minutes.
Sura is not an offensive threat from outside, but he is much more efficient running the team. Let Sura start and whichever one is having a better game...finish. DD
I think Sura should start and James should play more than 24 minutes. We need scoring power off bench and James is the receipe.
The Rox team chemistry is good and I wouldn't tamper with it right now except for injury. Sura should keep his starting position and let James come off the bench. As some other posters pointed out they can play about equal time plus they can be played together too and alternate at 1 and 2.
It doesn't matter who starts, but there is no question that James is a better all around player and shooter, the rockets are a better team with him in there, no doubt about it.
Sura = the quintessential Quasar Man http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allstar2005/columns/story?columnist=bucher_ric&id=1992711
I don't think James is an "all around better" player. They both have strengths that work really well with this team. Together they add up to a very good 48 minutes.
Not fair to judge Sura on two games after he missed almost 3 weeks of action. Give him some time. Besides it doesnt matter who starts the game but rather who finishes it. The past two games it's been James who has finished it.
