uh, he had 8 assists and 7 boards. Ran the offense well most of the time. Hit both 4th quarter FTs. Hit a big 3 to end a scoring drought. 2:1 turnover ratio. He didn't have good game but he didn't have a bad one either

T-Mac and Yao made costly turnovers in crunch time too and they sure do get a free pass while James misses 2 FTs in crunch time. So basically the whole team was choking at the end.

I can understand if people want James to start since he did have a pretty good game yesterday but when people say that Francis deserves to start is just r****ded. Francis is too out of shape and I hope he improves his game and works hard and maybe he will crack into the rotation. I don't hate the guy but I'm putting the team first and Francis needs a lot of work done

So for now Rafer starts with James providing instant offense off the bench

He provides instant offense AND instant defense off the bench.

Please vote on poll at the start of the thread.

Do any of you have opinions about MJ being coached and taught to pass the ball sooner, not look for his shot before setting up the offense, and learn to make cuts after passing sooner and dribbling less? Can MJ be taught these concepts and adjust his game? If not, why?

I like James off the bench for us. He's def. not a natural PG, and he's at his best when in full attack mode, sort of like a super (and I mean SUPER) light Kobe. He was really trigger happy at the last game, but I think that is his role, especially if he comes out on fire. His aggressiveness really keeps the defense off balance. I like a Rafer to start until SF gets himself back into shape. But we'll see if SF can actually be a contributer though. I was confident of that earlier during the summer, but now I'm not so sure anymore.

I don't think you can teach Mike James to dribble less, he has to do from his free will to pass the ball

Im sure if you strapped him down in a chair and made him watch videos of Nash and Kidd he'd get something out of it, but i like the James we have now. We need his instant scoring and gritty persona.

Plus, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. that especially is true for Francis, but Mike James is fine. Focus on his positives instead of the negatives.

    Rafer Alston = Steve Nash

only with exception to Steves jump shot/3pt shot/fg%/ playmaking ability/ driving ability/decision making....other than that .........Alston= Nash

    PERFECT EXAMPLE!

Rockets were down 10, Rafer goes out, James comes in, plays physical.

Now we are only down 5 with the momentum going our way.

If you still think Rafer should start, you're in over your head.

MJ is what we need as an instant scorer off the bench with the second unit. Rafer can start.

MJ still should be a bench unit, underwise, our bench wouldn't be as effective. Two games in this season shows, we came from behind because of the likes of MJ and Bonzi when our starter struggled. We have enough scorers in mac and yao who will demand alot of touches as starters.

Why would we change if we've won both games? I like James as a scorer off the bench.

As long as we get off to good starts, I'm OK with Rafer starting. Hmmm. The first two games, we got off to horrible starts. If this trend doesn't turn around, either MJ should start or Rafer should be yanked out sooner.
