I guess it depends on how you define havoc. He was our third most effective player behind yao and t-mac, so yes he had a good series. He could score on the break and get to the rim. He also shot the ball well and was one of our better defenders, so I'm sure the Mavs were pleased to see the Rockets traded him to Toronto. People don't give MJ enough credit for the things he does and can do on a regular basis and that's why his personality is so over the top.
except mike james costs a third less and actually plays three times smarter and more efficient than franchise
Tracy has no heart. . and no championships either BTW BIG SHOT Bob Horry got heart for days. . . and at last count he has 6 Rocket River
who cares about mike james now, I'm pretty happy we didn't get him, because he would've tooken shots away from tmac and yao and would want everything his way. I'm glad we picked up Vspan, beacuse he is a contributor and is a warrior, glad we dont have to deal with such a big ego.
Does Bob Horry really have heart, or is it because he doesn't care he's able to hit the presure shots?
After a series of solid seasons followed by a great season (after we foolishly traded him) he already has done that. Mike James has proven more in the NBA than any guard the Rockets currently have, by a mile. Why do you think our front office was so distrought about losing him.
I was gonna write that also, he proved his with the rockets, with the raptors, and not being on rockets team.
I think the best comparison would be Mike James to Keyshawn Johnson. Not quite the T.O. but still a lil crazy in the head.
Agreed. Essentially, Mike James is trying to pat himself on the back for failing. He may have been our best third option that series. And when he had better games, we won. The problem is, whether targeted or not, when he sucked, we lost. And we lost more than we won...Mike James FAILED. When he says the Mavs targeted shutting him down to win that series, what he should be saying is that they targeted shutting him down and it worked. Of course, isn't that what the NBA is about? One team finding a strategy to beat the other team? And since when is that strategy always about shuting down the other team's top player?
No logic behind this post at all, but I guess when you are trying to determine the "heart" of another man you don't need logic.
Yeah, I was wondering too how Horry had heart. He slacked off through most of his career. If there is something to credit him for, it is that he knows how to pick a winner -- or else he had a lot of good fortune in being in the right place at the right time.
Mike James was awesome during that Mavs series. He played some serious D, and got tons of steals and showed heart in game 7 even tho they blew us out. I still can't believe we traded the guy for Reefer.
(turning on Mike James mode) Mateo thinks its the opposite. Big Shot Bob is a heartless assassin. He drives 3s like daggers into his opponents big, juicy, teammate huggin, bad shot taking, hearts. Mateo respects Big Shot Bob. Mateo wants more guns for hire. (MJ mode off)
MJ is a flakosaurus but he ain't Keyshawn Johnson. KJ got thrown off a team during the middle of the season that was defending a Super Bowl championship! Didn't he also write a book called "Throw Me the D*** Ball"? MJ is just a weirdo who shouldn't be compared to players that have been thrown off teams or banned by their leagues. I say this as someone who doesn't like MJ.
Somebody needs to tell Mike James that the game plan worked. He scored 4 points in the most important game of the year. Yao stepped up, Tracy stepped up, Mike James vanished. That's why we traded MJ. When it mattered the most, that's when he couldn't be found. The 'Eye of the Tiger' is what Tracy McGrady had when he scored 13 in 35s. Mike James doesn't have it. He fakes it. I don't recall a single champion out there that refers to themselves in the third person. It just doesn't happen. I'm sure they exist. Can anyone name a champion who refers to themselves in the third person?
