I'd rather have Francis be that guy. At least when he played, he showed he can flow within the offense. He never went in looking for his own shot like James always does. Not to mention that he had even less playing time than James but still looks happy and supports his teammates on the bench. Also, I remember a couple days ago they interviewed Rick the Ruler about Bonzi being out and he said something along the lines of, "Well, we pretty much had our rotation set. But with Bonzi out, we are going to play small." There is a small chance that the rotation would change so why not get rid of the unhappy guy.
The Minnesota owner called MJ out as a robber. MJ only put up numbers in Toronto because no else did. It was also a contract year. The tried MJ in the rotation on a back to back and what does he do. Checks into the game and chucks up a 3 pointer that misses. MJ's bball knowledge is severly lacking. Plus AB plays better D, MJ isn't looking to play defense. The most important thing, we were not winning when he was in the lineup. Forget everything else, it's about w/l's with the right combination and MJ was not delivering the W's
Rockets aren't getting under LT this season unless they dump McGrady for the minimum salary back and maybe move Snyder for Seattle's TE. The best the Rockets can hope for is expiring contracts or less year/s. There's nothing much out there if that's the objective. *Cavs need a PG. If they can't get Bibby or are that desperate they've got two expiring contracts in Ira Newble + Devin Brown who could be moved Mike James. *Pacers need another guard. Andre Owens and Kareem Rush has started or is starting for them. They've slumped out of a playoff spot. Jeff Foster's role has diminished as their season has progressed. Foster has one year less on his contract and could be moved in a straight swap. In a different kind of move. *Lakers are slightly above the LT threshold. Rockets can help them get under. Phil Jackson's favourite space cadet Radmanovic has been a bust signing. He's missed all of January so far due to an ankle injury. Radman and James make about the same annually but Radman has an extra year tacked on. If the Lakers packaged Radman with their other bust Euro Vujacic (expiring) for James and Novak they're not paying LT this season.
I bet James will stay with the Rockets until at least by the trade deadline of 08/09 season. In reality, no team wants James' contract. James has very little to offer in his skill set at such price level.
I dunno why but I feel like this guy can still help us.....I know he's in a shooting slump, but its not coincidental that we were 6-1 when he was lighting it up, and lost 6 in a row when he was putting up bricks.....I still think he has a solid shot, he's just off. I'd still rather have him in the game with TMAC and Yao on the floor sometimes than Rafer....of course, this is if he gets his shot back.....
Mike James is very quick and strong to take it to the basket as well...what sets them apart in my mind is that brooks knows when to dish it off and will run plays....HUGE DIFFERENCE. I do feel Mike James could bring something to the table giving minutes here and there cuz when he's hot that man can score. but do not let him play point ever!!!
I'm not sure what to do here. James was on fire to begin the season, but then fell into a slump. Alston was horrible to begin, but has come around big lately (Although his last two games have been sub-par... personally I'm scared we're about to start seeing the old Rafer). Why do we think Mike won't come out of his slump if Rafer of all people did?
Concur. Mike James, despite the whining and not owning up to his poor shooting thus far, has the passion and grit to take charge and score under pressure. I hope Adelman relays what he expects of James, and I hope James gives up the idea he is a prima donna. I think we'll be happy to have James when the time comes. I hope.
I was happy when we brought Mike James back, he played decently his first time around as a Rocket. But coach is doing the right thing by benching him. Alston, Brooks, Francis, Head all deserve to get in the game before Mike James. If James wasnt so selfish, and if he could improve his FG%, then he would be worthy of playing time. Right now he is just not needed.
Mike James,a Morey mistake, we should have known exactly what we would be getting!! Mike was a selfish player when he played with us before but was great at taking it to the basket. Considering that we were bringing in Coach A who's teams play team basketball it was a bad mistake to trade for Mike James.
It's not his shot. Everybody shot poorly at one stretch. It's his defensive effort that planted him on the bench.
Two things - Our 6-1 record was because of T-Mac more than anyone else; secondly, I would also love to have him light it up with Yao and T-Mac but the only problem is he wil never pass the ball to either Yaop and/or T-Mac.
The guy shouldn't be here in the first place. He is a ball-hog who is incapable of passing the ball to his teammates.
