Acquiring a legit backup point at this stage means either Head or Bonzi will be eliminated from the rotation come playoff time. I think mgmt wont tinker with the lineup unless we deal for a backup big.

Exactly. The man is severly overrated by many. He wouldn't start here, and there's no way I'd play him before Luther, Snyder or Wells either. It was only a matter of time before he lost his job to Foye. He'll always be an undersized 2-guard. He has little playmaking skills as a PG and would help as nothing more than a scorer off the bench.

I'm actually shocked to see it too Minny this long to bench him. He should be fourth on the guard rotation behind Foye, McCants and Hudson.

Can anyone explain to me what the word "trade kicker" means?

Yeah but we've documented that you think the sun rises and sets with Rafer Alston and don't think shooting is important so your opinion is really not that useful.

Our TE is probably not enough for Mike James's contract. So it has to be a player for player trade.

I wont be surprised Novak is gone for Mike James.

How would Novak's salary equal James's if the TE doesn't???? He's a 2nd rnd rookie..

What's really funny is Mike James and Rafer Alston have identical assist-per-48-minute numbers and pretty close assist-to-turnover ratios (and this is really Rafer's only strength) yet he's calling for James to be benched and dismissing him as a scrub. The hypocrisy is just comical really.

Rafer apologists are a funny breed in general though. It never mattered to them if James shot 47-44 or 42-36 or hell, 60-50... he's "selfish" and "shot happy" while Rafer (who shoots more often than James) merely sets the table for others. My favorite is when we tried to explain to them the needs of the Rockets offense... that it does require a ballhandling point guard, but a bare minimum of playmaking in a halfcourt offense around Yao and T-Mac, and it places a heavy premium on shooting. You would get these responses about how Rafer is so unselfish, he sets up everyone, great attitude, ideal fit, doesn't shoot much, etc.

Now... you ask why Rafer has such low assist numbers for a "pure point", they say it's not his fault that McGrady does much of the playmaking. When you ask why Rafer shoots so much (and so poorly), they say it's not his fault because JVG tells him to take those shots.

Jeff Van Gundy is seriously pulling a Mike James right now ... though he occasionally has a Rafer night from time to time.

I don't get the "we need a big" statements. Deke is playing out of his mind and everything will get even better when Yao gets back.

Juwan and Chuck are a great combo for our PF needs, so what's the point of another big guy?

I chuckled at the thought of James saying to Wittman, "I was TMac in Canada."

Ok, for the Mike James apologists out there...what could we possibly give to the Pups to get MJ? We already know it won't be any of the 8 man rotation, especially among the starters, cause doing that is nuts when we're in the middle of a playoff run right now.

TE? Mike James makes more then that. edit: will this put the rockets over the luxury tax threshhold

Bob Sura and VSpan/JLIII? Maybe on Vspan combo, hell no on JLIII combo

Anything involved with Padgett or Novak? Pups will laugh at us

Maybe Bonzi straight up for Mike James (even though Mike makes more then Bonzi)? I scratch my head on this one, I still think we need Bonzi for the playoffs

edit: take on Eddie Griffin also if the Pups insist to include him in a deal for Mike?

    any other ideas?

Sura plus padgett works according to real GM.

Minnesota gets rid of James for two expiring contracts. Why would Minny turn it down?

They don't need or want James since their roster is full of combo guards and they're not going to get much for him at this point since his stock is low.

Are the pups this desperate to get rid of Mike? I really think they could get a better deal unless they just want to clear cap space. If this happens, i consider it a steal even though we are stuck with another fat long contract.

Dont think Minny would want us to be better and take our garbage in return.
Do we want to give up Lutha for Mike James? I wouldnt. Though Minny would probably seal the deal in a heartbeat, if Lutha was offerred.

Why would they want Luther Head? He's another redundant undersized SG. No point in having him take Randy Foye's palying time.

Offloading James for expiring contracts is as good as they could hope for. he's not their future and in the first year of a 4 year deal. They have to move him and if they can do it essentially for free than that is good as they will get.
