Another spot on post about MJ and the Rockets. I also think he will sign for more, the Minnisoto teams should spend a lot to get him.

A loudmouth nutcase like James may be someone teammates & coaches are able to deal with in short doses, he may even be someone they enjoy being around initially, but I think after dealing with his personality day after day, month after month, year after year, I don’t see him sticking around here any longer than he has stuck around any of his previous teams. The constant rambling and the weird interviews that the fans have been able to listen to/read are only a snippet of what the players & coaches are going to have to deal with all the time. Signing him would be a disaster waiting to happen.

next time someone gets morey on an interview they need to ask what he thinks about james. I'm sure james' stats interest a guy like him.

I really don't understand the hate for james. you guys who don't like him can not make an argument against what this team did with him on the court. I don't know why some of you give a damn about whether t-mac or yao like their teamates so much. you're not their mamas. these are grown men trying to win. plenty of teams have had guys who didn't get along with each other and been successful, its not that important. the fact is the rockets may have been a playoff team if healthy, but its also a fact that their guards are old or either unreliable. james at his price would be a perfect fit, off the bench or starting.

I don't buy that James is just trying to up his value. Someone somewhere is going to give him the MLE. He doesn't need to make overtures towards Houston to make that his base value.

Besides are you saying that James is a raving lunatic AND a crafty business person. He's just a talker with a scizophrenic personality, and says whatever comes to his mind.

He'll take whatever money he can get, but I hardly think he's plotting his way to a big pay day. Every team knows that if you want to sign somebody, that you need to outbid all the other teams. James doing crazy, stream-of-consciousness interviews isn't going to change that.

Like I said, I think James' value will be MLE money. And I think he ends up on the T-wolves, where he can be "the man" and have a lot of freedom in their offense.

I almost think we have to take the chance on James if we have the option (if he'll take the MLE). The team as it was last year would've struggled to get out of the first round, and would've lost in the second IMO. We have to take a gamble to give us a shot before our window with Tracy and Yao closes.

That fire and personality, no matter how arrogant it may be, is something we lacked last year without James and Sura. Tracy and Yao are definitely not in-your-face guys...we need someone to be a bit of a leader on the court and push the rest of the team from time to time.

On top of that, James covers up Rafer's weaknesses perfectly. Rafer is good and pushing the ball and setting the offense, but a poor shooter. James is a much better shooter and scorer, so he will compliment Rafer very well. James can be the third scorer we've been looking for, while at the same time being a decent defender and able to run the point. As long as he plays smart and not selfish, he's the perfect fit.

Vernon Maxwell...Sam Cassell...Mario Elie. Those are the names that come to mind when I think of James. A bit crazy, loud and a bit arrogant, with fire and passion and willing to take the big shot. Those three were all great complimentary players.

Who cares whether we win or lose as long as we have humble solid citizens like Howard, Bowen, Goggins, Hayes and the understandably egoless and humble Stromile. No one on our team is allowed an ego unless it is Mr. Ego, JVG.

The crazier James gets, the more I want him on this team (and because I'm desperate for a guy with foot speed on the perimeter). As delusional as he is he realizes he is playing with 2 top 10 players in the league alongside Yao and McGrady. As many posters have said, we need his fire, we need someone with that Maxwell mentality on this team. With the positioning Yao gets now and his sticky hands, James has no choice but to defer to him. I don't know whether or not McGrady had problems with him before but he realizes James is something this team REALLY needs, and he'll probably shut up once he gets paid this offseaon.

Also, James isn't a stupid guy. He knows basketball. He knows to win you need Chiefs and Indians. He knows who the Chiefs are on this team, he knows he is an Indian. I'm really not worried about him blowing past TMac and forcing shots down the stretch.

For James, I think it really boils down to whether or not he will get enough PT in Houston... as opposed to Minnesota or LA.

    1. Is this your 1st interview with a ball player. . . .that cockiness is a bit part of being a player.
    2. I don't understand why people get bent up on these guys wanting money . . .. Les doesn't do it for free. . . JVG don't work for free. . no one works for free . . . . We ask players to take 'cuts' for the team . . but I doubt any of us would take less money at our job . . . Esp if we knew we could get more

I find it odd considering no one gave a d*mn if Francis like his teammates or not
hell people still give him sh*t about theNOT NEEDING A PG comment
[even though .. . it may have been *a* factor in taking Yao over Jay Williams
which I don't think *ANYONE* here would want to switch about now]

My biggest beef is. . . why the hell we want high rate talent at cut rate prices
If that is the case. . . we need to find some real diamonds in the rough

    IF NOT MIKE . . then who . . .

I don't know. . I'd rather have too much talent than not enough
people seem to want players they think are 'good enough'
    rather than GOOD

RIGHT NOW . . the Rockets have plenty of 'GOOD ENOUGH' talent
We have GREAT . .then a bunch of GOOD ENOUGH . . . . time to get
    some GOOD on this team

Ill have to admit that Mike James is a terrible interview....i read somewhere that he thinks Tyson is best boxer EVER. But if we get him....i would be satisfied.

I think he has vision problems because he was struck by lightning on a golf course a while back.

So interviewing him is a waste of time simply because he has an opinion on boxing?
