Mike is...pretty weird, but MLE I'd get him in H-Town in a heartbeat

Wow. Talk about overtly unjust analyzation. Some of you are acting like Mike James beat you up in grade school. The guy is an adequate ball handler. He can create his own shot. He shoots well from beyond the arc. He plays solid defense, and he brings fire to the court. If he could be had for the mle, or possibly a part of the mle, Mike James would be a solid addition. Some of you need to stop wearing you hearts on you sleeves.

I heard about the last 10 minutes of the interview. He is really cocky, but the Rockets need another scorer. I think he would be a good replacement for Wesley.

Exactly what are we gambling? Did we NOT have him last season? Did he NOT play well for us? Did he NOT come up big for us against the Mavericks (minus Game 7 when everyone not named Yao or Tmac sucked?). It's funny how most of us thought Swift was such a great acquisition yet he was still an unknown commodity. And when James says he wants back on the team, a team with the BEST player (McGrady) wanting him back, everyone says he sucks and a risky move. Anyone who's disillusioned enough to think that James is going to want to be the man in Houston probably still thinks that Boki still has potential to be an All-Star

I'm sorry but I'd consider the team we have now as just a BARELY-playoff team. Even if we have Yao and Tmac healthy, the rest of the team sucks. They couldn't hit open jumpers, couldn't create their own shots, couldn't defend. And you're speaking as though he's a rookie and/or never played with McGrady or Yao before. We know James can score. No one here is proclaiming that his return would ascend us to the top of the West. But it should be considered a start in the right direction. If you've watched the NBA playoffs this year, guards that can penetrate are the ones that are still playing. Nash, Josh Howard, Wade, Barbosa, Terry, Tony Parker, even Jason Williams are some prime examples of this.

The Rockets aren't risking anything by signing James back. Heck, signing Derek Anderson last offseason should be considered riskier than bringing James back. One of the biggest problems the Rockets had was scoring and finding a 3rd option on the team. Either the role players get hesitant and pass up open shots or they flat out suck. I rather see the Rockets bring back James at the MLE (if they can) then to waste their money on a forward that can't do much or try to split the MLE to bring in more for the money (like that EVER works)

If we can draft Roy, I would rather spare the MLE for another guy.

^ right on steddi...splitting our MLE is just gonna yield us more derek andersons and more mediocrity. Let's use the full MLE and get the most for our money with 5.2 mil or however much it is for PROVEN talent. After that lets try to work some more deals like stro/head packages to get another solid contributor. We also have some wiggle room if we wanted to do something with our 8th pick. But MJ is definetly a step in the right direction.

I'm betting that the Pistons are thinking differently right about now.

That was one of the WORST interviews I've ever heard from a player perspective. I tuned in after about a minute and I seriously thought I was listening to a joke. I thought maybe it was 'Mike James on a mobile.'

He sounded like he was high, jacked up on something. I've never heard a cat go off like he did today. I thought for sure it was a joke until they started talking about his camp.

Someone get Chance to post that link. It's UNREAL.

This cat sounded much more thug than I thought and just weird as hell.

With that said and our MLE.... :D

Sign him up. This team could use a Vernon Maxwell type. Someone a little crazy, just not Ron-Ron Artest crazy.

This ain't the Astro's folks. There's only so many hard working men a basketball team can have without a mean streak to light a fire under them. Need I remind everyone at Juwon "Shades" Howard's attempt to play the role of the tough guy several times this season? How messed up is that?

He may be a nutcase, but he is fast and he can score. We need a wacko on this team anyway, especially one who can find the basket. Folks, I will tell you what is delusional, the idea that Ming and TMac can take the current "brick brigade" anywhere. We have two starters! Two! That is it! The rest are bench players and not really good bench players. Have you checked the bench players on the Heat, the Suns, the Mavs, the Pistons? They could all start for the Rockets. Get real people, this team is desperate for supporting talent. And I mean desperate! Why do you think Morey is here?

It's amazing to me Mike James is still such a flashpoint for people here. Some seem to only remember his 2-3 good games against the Mavs in the playoffs and forget how he sometimes destroyed our offensive chemistry during the regular season. Others focus only on his several negatives, especially his rumored tiff with Tracy without giving him any credit for being a superb sparkplug off the bench. Before this interview I was mixed on bringing him back, mainly because we have much bigger needs at SG and PF. IMO, this is the main "risk" of signing him for the MLE along with questions about how he would fit on the court.

I still feel he would be a great 6th man on a contending team or a very good starter on a mediocre/bad team. If Yao and Tracy are both healthy and play to their capabilties, the Rockets ARE a contending team. Period! They aren't close to any playoff borderline. We need a few more athletic players on this team who fit their roles around our two stars. Maybe MJ is humble enough to accept this type of role; maybe not. Either way, we have bigger needs than a shoot-first PG and using our MLE on him could be a huge mistake.

Thanks Doc. I'm glad someone else heard it and hopefully the link gets posted so everyone will know I wasn't "spinning" worse than Fox News. LOL!

    Yup. That's Mike.

    Egotistical, self-consumed.

Exactly what you want on your team

Nothing Rockets-related, they're just talking in general about the current playoffs, making predictions, observations, etc.

    Nothing interesting really...

    So James has personality!
He just might be the kick in the pants that the lowly Rockets need!
It was a mistake to tade him away last year!
I am sure he has talent and isn't afraid to take a shot, he is fast and he he can put the ball in the basket.
If we are lucky enough we might get him with the full exception!!
