Wow - so you're telling us his spectacularly efficient season in Toronto, was only spectacularly efficient because it was in a high post offense like RIck Adelman runs.

Damn you are making a good case for sitting him in Rick Adelman's offense!

    ppg
    01-02 2.8
    02-03 7.8
    03-04 9.3 (10.7 in Boston, 6.3 in Detroit)
    04-05 11.8
    05-06 20.3
    06-07 10.1

    apg
    01-02 1.3
    02-03 3.2
    03-04 4.2
    04-05 3.6
    05-06 5.8
    06-07 3.6

My bad about the scoring. His ppg went down AFTER he went to Detroit, but his overall scoring average for the whole year did go up.

As for his assist average, I don't see how it counts as "going up every year" when the going up stopped after the 3rd year of his career. If you take away his rookie year, in which he played less than 10 mpg, his assist numbers basically went yo-yo.

Why don't you try looking at his per minute stats which are a better guide for an NBA player anyways. I just don't happen to agree with you or Sam that James is that good.

Rafer is going to start along with chuck because the first unit had great chemistry last season.

What exactly is Jame's Basketball IQ? WTFBB(I)Q 5? 150? An Intelligence quotient requires a quotient of some sort. What's the test? Is it like the Wunderlic(kmyballs)? Stanford-Binet? The Phil Jackson Zen test? Come on, give me a number?

If you take MJ's mental basketball age, and divide it by his chronological basketball age... and then carry the 1... multiply by 100... I came up with 42. The ultimate answer. Very auspicious.

As for Steve Francis, take his mental basketball age, divide it by his actual baksetball age... multiply... you get sleven.

After calculating Rafer's, I came up with eleventeen.

Clearly, the auspicious Mike Jame's should be starting based on his superior, auspicious BBIQ.

I love sports. So silly, yet so serious.

and they're much better than anything Rafer has ever done in his professional life.

    stop owning yourself.

so far from you we have "James is only good in a Rick Adelman offense!" and "James is only good because he was better on a per minute basis and more efficient!"

what's next, "at least Rafer didn't cry his way out of Toronto!"

Look, it will all depend on where Adelman plays these guys, and with whom. James would be by far your best bet when teams start doubling Yao or T-Mac, because that's pretty much what happened last year, except for the fact that Rafer was a horrendous shooter and only encouraged teams to send more defenders at our two main guys (how many games did we have to suffer through where opponents would intentionally leave Rafer all by his lonesome at the perimeter? The irony is he wasn't much better taking it in...so may be I would have forced him to take layups instead, at least he would expend more energy).

On the flip side, none of our PGs are very good at passing the ball, with the exception of Rafer. Rafer also wold benefit from a run and gun offense where he doesn't need to spot up for his shots, but instead attack the rim; same thing with Stevie, except that SF3 is a MUCH better finish than Rafer, and might actually be the second best finisher around the rim on this entire team (Yao is the uncontested #1, of course).

So again, the relative success/failure of these three guards will entirely depend on where they play in the rotation, and what their roles are. But ALL three can play vital roles on the team in different spots, we just have to utilize their strengths and attempt to minimize their weaknesses.

You have been owned and caught hitting yourself in the head all thread. Some of us realize we need both players while some point guard facists, such as yourself, want to spin things in a way that makes it look like Rafer sucks and Mike James is Magic Johnson.

The truth is somewhere in the middle - which is that they simply aren't that different in regards to career stats. The main difference being that Mike James can shoot and draw fouls while Rafer can run the offense and play a smart game. Their career per 40 minute stats (which you argue show that Mike James' "are better than anything Rafer has done in his professional career") clearly show that Rafer has an edge in assists and steals. Take away the Mike James fluke season and the numbers show a greater difference in these areas. Their points per 40 minutes are less than a 4 point difference.

If you want to make an argument to support your cause come up with some of that famous stat ramming. My guess is you will just throw out some more grade-school insults and facist slogans as a result of your inability to post anything coming close to a fact to support your opinion. This will not provent you from stating your opinion as fact.

The spin machine has been in full effect for a while and it hasn't changed with last night's game. Rafer plays excellent in several games playing a decent amount of minutes and it's "let's see what happens - it's only preseason". Mike James plays well for 9:22 in one pre season game and it's "We now have no defensive or offensive liabilities... we have Mike James".

I've said from day one, we can use both of them. It doesn't have to be one or the other. From that same day the Mike James facists have stated that if only we had Mike James playing 44 minutes a game in the post season (with no viable backup) we wouldn't have wasted Yao's prime years. I can only assume that they mean that we would have won a championship with that single roster change. I find that delusional.

Carry on, I'm off to the museum with the little one.

Brox - this stats have been posted dog. The facts have been posted. Freaking posted 10,000,000 times. I have posted them, clutch has posted them, others have posted them. This argument is over. You lost. James is back. So. excuse me if I don't reproduce basketball reference.com or 82games.com and any and all of the 1,000's of post on the board on it, to go through the skull-numbing exercise of you saying "well if we discount the years in which he was good, HE REALLY DOESN"T LOOKS SO HOT!!!!11!!"

the statistical argument against James makes people like you frustrated and start calling people assholes - I gues you can call me one since I can't ban you.

james is a spark plug, and i can see how he might alienate.
did you see the thread on his site? the background song on his site says "...all you fake point guards, hand your position over...".
feel the love for the team, right? yikes.

what you can't fault is james intensity. seems to be sura style intensity which we could again use. thinking back to the playoff series with the mavs, i remember a bad call and james lost it, was escorted out, totally lost it. i must admit, i lost it too - thought it was a bad call. point being james is fiery intense.

as for BBall IQ - hmmm. is this a standardized test? if so, then setting up TMAc and Yao would yield the highest score and James would be second to Rafer. But with RickAdlmn, the measurement will be different. Interesting to see how Tmac and Yao interact w/ James - if they call James out for boating, hogging shots, etc - I suppose it would good if they did, because it would perhaps light a fire under TMac and Yao in crunch to be even more dominant, as I'm sure they would hear it, feel the pressure back from James, who also would want to ball...

We'll never know how MJames would have played w/ JVG last year, especially if he could have split time with Rafer - but I say we are not ousted in the first round if we could have had Mj backup Rafer when Rafer went ice cold. Yet I'm hesitant to say MJ> Rafer. Rafer in shorter bursts has been excellente.

Mjames maybe needs more BBall IQ, as in deference to TMac and YAo
and Rafer could use to play with a spiked wrist band to tear himself a route to the hole.
Mafer Jameslton would be a perfect fit, eh? We sort of have that.
OR even better, we have Mafer JAmelston Franchise.
Yikes, one ugly mofo w/ lots a stiches. sorry for the freaky image.

Oh my, and I going to get my membership revoked?
