    Adding to Nikestrad's Stuff

    Using Net Points?
    Mjames
    W/ Rockets +11.6
    W/ Raptors +3.6
    W/ TWolves -4.9

    Rafer
    W/ Toronto .8
    W/ Houston -2.9
    W/ Houston 1.8

If Mjames net pts are horrid, then Rafer's net pts smell like the offspring of Karl Malone and John Stockton.

Yes Van Gundy actually made Mike play some defense which is why he looked ok in Houston. However, if you look at the dudes career stats and his PER. Not so hot.

Here's his career stat line and you can see he is a career mediocre NBA point guard.

    Averages 26 MPG, .431 FG%, .382 3PT%, 2.5 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.7 TO, 11.5 PPG

Take away that fluke season of his at Toronto where he ran in a high post run and gun offense with the Raptors with the green light to shoot and the number are even worse.

Maybe they didn't want Alston to be the only possibility at the point? Maybe they wanted to play their starting point guard less than 44 minutes a game in the post season? Maybe they wanted security in case of injuries? Maybe they wanted to play Alston less than 33 minutes a game during the season? Maybe they had Steve Francis fall in their laps for nothing and just couldn't say no?

It looks that Mike James shows higher BBall IQ than Steve Francis.

UH, the reason why James' season in toronto was remarkable (which has been said like 10,000,000 times her) was not due to raw numbers, but to to the spectacular efficiency of his play - accordingly, "run and gun" had nothing to do with it.

This of course presuspposes that Toronto ran a "run and gun" offense. Yeah they were a run and gun offense all right - ranking all of 14th out of 30 teams in Pace rankings. WOW - what a bunch of greyhounds - SHOWTIME! Canada style.

So, Box of Rocks, have you met your kindred spirit, Bag of Hammers? you two kids would get on real well.

    As opposed to 27.8 MPG, .384 FG%, .358 3PT%, 2.7 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.71 TO, 9.6 PPG

    World of a difference.

Toronto just sucks. James was the go to guy and Toronto ran a high post offense similar to Adelmans. James still sucks and his offensive efficiency per minute doesn't differ that much in Toronto vs all his other years.

 Did any body remember that MJ wanted so bad to come home last season, but only at the last min, rather went for the money. Me being a true rockets fan i have no respect for him and only think, he will ball hog this year starting or off the bench. To go and get the big bucks again. I am not the GM but i am a true fan and i will put up with him. I been watching him in the preseason and i've seen plenty of time he forced shots rather than pass, yes he made alot of them but he is no TMAC how many times will luck be on his side. Finals Champs :D

I noticed there was only one objective factual thing he said in that video, all the rest was his opinion of himself. He said that his scoring numbers and his assist numbers went up every year. That perked my ears up and it got me to look up the simple stats that he's referring to.

It's almost true that his scoring went up every year until Toronto. There was just one blip in that trend, which was the year when he was traded to Detroit, the championship year.

He was actually pretty consistent hovering around 4 apg every year, with the exceptions of his rookie year (exceptionally low) and his Toronto year (exceptionally high).

No commentary, just hard facts. Take it in whatever way you want.

Try a better fact checker. Mike James points/game went up every year until last year. His assists went up every year until 04-05.
