like i said, optimizing your pay is fine if that's what you wanna do. But that's not what he's doing in this... if he doesn't take a long term deal, he is NOT gonna get paid what he thinks he will after a 3 year deal.
I'm sure they understand but I'm also sure they would be pretty upset if he started complaining about how much he makes after a 5-25 fg performance in a loss. How is that a stupid comment? He hasn't said a single word about winning or losing the entire season, everything that has come out of his mouth has been about him and $$. First he says he wants a long-term deal for a lot of money and then he comes out and says he wants shorter-term deals for even more money. He obviously doesn't care where he goes as long as the money is there. Hell, he just basically admitted that he doesn't want to stay with one team and try to win or build something. Question: Wouldn't you be pissed if Rafer was complaining about money like MJ throughout the 33 win season? I know I would be.
More like you haven't read anything he said about winning or losing, or rather you haven't seen them posted or reported. Huge difference.
Point very well taken except MJ needs to shut up about money right now. His team is 27-53, the 5th worst record in the NBA and he's yapping about his contract situation? He needs to talk about what the Raptors are going to do to get better next year. During the summer AFTER he decides to opt out, then he can talk and talk and talk about his contract all he wants and focus on maximizing his earnings potential. But didn't he say a couple of weeks ago: "Money don't motivate me"? Is he schizo? By no stretch of the imagination am I a Mike James hater but I am so glad this guy is chattering while in Toronto and not doing it here. The more he talks, the more I'm glad we got rid of him.
So if it hasn't been reported, I guess we all have to assume that he does care about winning? Whatever it is, I don't really care for a guy who has done the type of ranting he has done this season. Especially since his team didn't even win 30 games You're right, there is a huge difference, but I don't think I can't remember someone ever talking about himself and money more than Mike James has this season.
in the chronicle this morning on page 2 I believe, it says mike james will be on the broadcasts for nbatv during the playoffs.
Mike James At It Again ______________ Scoring lots of points, dishing many assists, and giving 110% for his team.
To me there is a difference between playing w/ passion and heart, and playing on a 27 win team and complaining all season long about how much he makes and how much he should make. Like I said, I never hated MJ until these recent comments. He has played very well individually for the Raps, but saying that he'll sign shorter deals while asking for more money is pretty ludicrous to me.
First of all he's 6-6, not a tweener like Mike James. Who is not a true PG and not big enough for SG. Second, Mr. James is 31 while Redd is 27. Also Redd is a proven scorer in this league, while Mike James has only done it for ONE year. Also, at that age of 31 guards his size tend to slow down, and for a guy like Mike James who relies on his quickness so much, it's not a good thing.
"I can't make people love me," James said. "I can't make people like me. Even Jesus Christ and all the healing he was doing on every single day, they still wanted to persecute him and kill him. And so, who am I? I can't even pull a hangnail out of my daughter's finger let alone heal somebody. So who am I to think that everybody's going to like me, appreciate me and value what I do on the court and off the court?" Toronto Globe & Mail I like Mike James!!!!
