My guess is that his reaction will be something along the lines of "Hey T-mac, why are you crying, do you need a tissue?"
LOL! I swear I am starting to think that we ARE a sissy town, like a lot of out-of-towners used to tell me. In any sport, we're just uncomfortable with players that have a personality or a strong passion for what they do. Wagner mouthes off, Uncle Drayton freaks out and ships him off to elsewhere. The infamous 'wave off' by James to T-Mac a couple of seasons ago exemplified that, even when the story turned out to be complete BS and that James and Mac keep saying that they're "boys" and good friends off the court, people still try to use that as a reason why we shouldn't have him. I am so hoping for Artest on this team. And the feminization of America continues...
Frankly, the Rockets can't afford not to take chances on some guys that are a little nuts. The NBA (and Fonde) is pretty much full of prima donnas. Bonzi infuriated the hell out of me last season, just up and leaving with his fat ass, but I'll gladly welcome him back if he can help the team win. Same with Mike James, same with Artest, I really don't care. Who was our backup point guard last year? Nobody? Yeah, I remember. We need talent bad and with two max players in the starting lineup we aren't going to get four more Shane ****ing Battiers to take us to the finals so let's break some eggs here.
It's kinda funny to think after season 2005 we traded mj for rafer alston, and now we tried so hard to get him back and wanted to get rid of rafer alston
Having players that act like professionals doesn't make you a sissy town. Having players that don't give their all and act like five year olds makes a "sissy" town in my book. Players can show emotions without acting like they "got no upbringin". Volatile personalities and success are not synonymous. I would rather have a player that gets pissed because someone threw him to the ground by scoring 25 points in the next two quarters than have one that throws a punch or goes after the other player cursing like a sailor, but maybe that's just me being a "sissy"??? Also, the thing with Tmac and MJ sounds like the media making too much of a small thing. Which they tend to do to sell papers or advertising or whatever medium they happen to be in. I obviously wasn't around then, but from all accounts that's what it seems like.
Well, he actually did wave off T-Mac. It does not matter if they say they are boys or not, it happened. They could have been best friends or worst enimies, regardless of all that, the infamous 'wave off' took place.
40 years olds playing in pick up games at the YMCA are nice too, but like Moochie, they have no business in the NBA.
So, where did all of MJ's "toughness" got the Rockets in game 7 against the Mavs? How did the "tough" MJ do?
I was there the past 2 summers it's the best way to talk to the players one on one.I have talked to jvg, shot b ball with mobley, shook muchie and rashard lewis hand, and I asked damon stodermire was he comming to houston 2 years ago...of course he did say he wanted too back then.
mike james never wove off t-mac. it was t-mac who wove off mike james. i remember it like yesterday. mike james had the ball and was pulling a steve francis, dribbling too much and trying to create something, t-mac was on the side and gave him an annoyed wave telling him to set up the play, and mike james did.
James is not a 'thug', he's never been one. I don't care much for thugs either, but I have no problem with guys who play with their hearts on their sleeves; James is one of those guys, Sura was one of those guys, Mario Elie and Sam I Am were two of those guys. It just seems like a 'trend' to me, it's like this whole freakin' town is cursed with ownership that wants nothing but 'choir boys' on their rosters, be it the Astros, Rockets or apparently the Texans. Pro teams are about winning, that's the ONLY thing fans will get behind. Otherwise, you end up having 12k fans showing up at the TC on a weeknight. Of course it was blown out of proportion, that's precisely my point. We (media, town, whatever) vilify anyone who doesn't toe the company line. It's starting to piss me off...
My thoughts, exactly. As currently configured, this team is not going past the first round, especially with the Jazz standing in the way. The Rockets need some talented, DURABLE, tough-minded players, with some attitude. Last year, it appeared that the team was assembled by Oprah. The Jazz rough them up a bit, and, suddenly, it is tissue time.
About the same place as the TOUGH, IT'S ON ME, max salary superstar got us in game 7 vs. Dallas, or game 7 at home vs. Utah.
