at least james is making contribution with his scoring, what have alston done? This so call starting point guard is a joke so far. After awhile, the so call "getting used to the new team" excuse will wear off and become lame. Maybe he needa watch some tapes on sura's game last year or just put some extra time during practices to learn how to run this offense better. Also, work on his shots....

I hate the "he shoots too much" stance.

Isn't Gilbert Arenas a point guard who "shoots too much". Would you guys not like to have him on the rockets?

I would not like to have Arenas on the team.

Why not? That would be one heck of a lineup with him at PG.

You are crazy if you wouldn't want Gilbert Arenas, an all star guard on your team.

Also, If point guards aren't supposed to score, then why is everyone so upset with Alston's poor shooting?

For the time being, the Rockets need someone to step up and hit the clutch shots down the stretch.

Something James did time after time last year.

Not to diss the trade, I still want James on this team. Let's see how Rafer ended up after he gets more comfortable.

Your wish is his command.... 34pts with 4 minutes to go, but this time he's clocked up 6 assists to try and please everyone...

And they are a chance of winning

he can't do it all himself, he needs some help on that team in order to win.

I attribute their poor logic to just not knowing much about basketball. Hopefully James will continue to perform so all these James bashers can realize how little they know about the game of basketball and what it takes to be successfull in the NBA.

Plus, most of these guys who bash James are the type that only watch rockets games, so in their defense they don't know much about other teams, other players, or the NBA in general.

Mike is making himself a lot of money right now. He should get the full mid level expection next year when he opts out.

Well nobody should be surprised......Mike James was helping carry the Celtics 2 seasons ago as an impact player.......He was the guy making things happen when Pierce went to the bench or got doubled or was out injured. I still think his scoring and leadership was a big part of our success last year. We will have to find other places on the roster or via trade to replace both now.

    I totally disagree!!

With the players that we had, there was no real point-guard on the roster! Alston takes care of the ball and sets up the offense - James brings the ball up and then generally passes to wingmen.

James is at his best when he has a 'licence to thrill' and is probably a better scorer than Alston - but Alston is a better set shooter, and probably a better reader of general play.

Alston is still fitting in, while James seems to have taken over as the sparkplug in Toronto!

Good luck to James - hope he scores 20ppg - but I'd still rather have Alston for this Rocket's team

He didn't have to... and it's a big part of why we lost.

He was hot, but everyone knew down the stretch that he was gonna try and be the hero and hit the game winner - hence easy to defend. This is the exact time that he should have drawn the defence and dished to a team mate who had an easier shot, rather than a layup with 4 Philly defenders sorrounding him.

Bosh, Villanueva, Graham and Bonner (the other 4 on the court in the crunch) all shot over 50% for the game and would have been more than capable of knocking in shots. Any team who needs Mike James to go off for 38 in order for them to win - is doomed to lose.

No, the guy who should be shooting is the one who is wide open after team creates space for him and that shouldn't be one & "the one" guy, like in today's NBA. Many players should be fillin' it for team to win.
That's why Team America had so little success lately...
