Perfectly said. Even if BobbyJax never finds his stroke, that trade was STILL a good one -- addition by subtraction. Watching this team (without Yao) is almost like watching some small college team with one monster star player and a bunch of guys who bust their asses game after game.

They stopped making basketballs out of wheat and noodles about 40 years ago.

BAck on the subject of the thread (wheat & noodles ?) Mike was really active and found his spots to receive a lot of passes around the basket. His D will get a lot better becasue he is quick but he defintiely needs so more time to get it down soon. A little too much idleness on the D side.

Very happy, though!! And, DD did call it so kudos.

Yes, he can spell Tmac and Battier...and bring an entirely new dimension to the team.

He is a lot better than what he has shown so far, much more aggressive and explosive.

Not quite Landry explosive (But who really is?) but a little better than Bonzi...IMHO.

Perfect timing to get him up again. This team looked ragged out there tonight and Harris picked them up. Amazing. A twenty game winning streak coming into the game tonight and we're saved by a Rice alum on a ten day contract. I hated losing him at the beginning of the season, but maybe this was just meant to be. Incredible that Adelman let him play the 4th. We've got a hell of a coach!

Yeah, hustle team for next season with those 3 at the 3-4-5. Throw in Brooks, and Head or a tall 2 and watch them dominate 2nd units.

Thanks DaDak for this thread. Frikkin' Rice boy whose SAT score would make 99% of the guys here heads explode.

Geez, you're such a troublemaker. My opinion:

Scola's still struggling and I'm convinced he's full of greatness, but as of now he's ok.

Landry, well damn T-Mac says he's going to be an all-star and the dude is just frightening.

Chuck? Well, double damn, he's the 3rd best undersized 4 on this team that had durvasa's best stats from last year draped all over him.

I think everyone here kvetched when we cut Harris and sweated to sign Landry. Well, if that was complicated then, now... Ugh.

We're going to have fork over $5 to $6 mil just to see if Carl can actually beat out Mike this time.

This is complicated. Life is so good.

To me he is like a poor man's Landry, smaller and less explosive.

The guy is 6'6" and 240+ pounds...he is Ron Artest like in size.....

And he plays with controlled aggression.....

I think the Rockets stashed him over in the CBA.....probably got him a fat contract and told him that they would bring him back by year's end.

Nice to have that China pipeline in place.

Harris is great but he doesn't have the hops that Landry has. He gets his rebounds from sheer hustle and positioning. This is good. He doesn't score the same way Landry does but he is effective and has a good midrange shot. I think getting rid of Green was a stellar move to make room for Harris.

Ha, I thought Bonzi was worthless to you. Now you put him and Marion together?

I don't think it is easy for someone like Harris to have a post-up game like Bonzi. He certainly doesn't look like a Marion type of player to me either. Marion is an one of a kind player in the NBA.

I guess I was not clear enough, I think he is a power SF/SG, but not really comparible to those 2 game play wise.

He is unique in his own right, but to have a power guy at the SF position can be a big advantage.

As for Bonzi, I think that this streak has proved that he was ...uh....not needed.

    ;)

Harris and Landry were battling it out for rebounding skill in the summer league. Harris won that battle and scored at a higher rate too. I think it's reasonable to say that he'll at least be as good as what he did in the summer league. Landry added 4 inches to his vertical and now he's a pogo stick. That's something he didn't have in the summer league. Harris is very strong and will definately be a good post player.

Both these guys have the potential of being very good. So who gets playing time? Not a bad problem to have guys ;)

One thing we have to give RA props is that he is not afraid to play new guys. I really doubt JVG would give that kind of minutes to Harris.
