I love JVG and prefer a defense minded team, but MDT has won more games and gone further.

However we have soooo much more talent in our supporting cast than we ever did with JVG. Thats on CD.

Don’t forget Rick Brunson, over the hill Charlie Ward, and fossilized Rod Strickland.

MDA hasn't been screwed like JVG. At least not yet.

We have way more talent around our stars now they we were did with JVG. The most talented team JVG had was the one that lost in 7 vs Mavs and then injury killed us when that back injury ended Bob Sura's career.

    Sura
    Wesley
    T-Mac
Juwon ( i know he was injured that series vs Mavs)
    Yao
That was a solid starting 5 and Mike James as 6th man wasn't a bad team and they took a good Mavs team to 7 games and if not for some terrible calls could have won that series. The thought I think was that we could find role players to surround Yao and T-Mac to get us over the hump but it never really happened and they never got out of the first round until 2009 and then T-Mac went down and Yao went down in the Lakers series and that was the end of the idea of them ever winning a title.

This Rockets team was better just for having more overall talent around the superstars. This is the closest we have come to getting back to the Finals since the last title. I don't know if we will finish the job next year, but based on what happened to the team after losing that series to the Mavs back in 05 you have to shoot your shot and hope you can finish the deal.
