I have to admit. Les speaking directly to the fans was a shock. I almost felt bad for the guy, but then I remembered. Pringles.
Hill didn't really suck. He had a lot of good games with the Rockets. Jeffries was just a better option at the time.
Yeah, that was a bizarre compliment. I guess he was implying players would wanna come to the Rockets because D'Antoni will help them put up big numbers which will lead to them getting paid. But in order land most free agents this summer once the cap skyrockets, we're already gonna have to overpay just about anyone who signs here. So even if what Les said is true, it's irrelevant this offseason. Just a weird remark by the guy. But that's par for the course with him these days.
I agree. Terrible hire. His last coaching stop was a complete failure. No way he's going to recover from that one. He's doomed to failure. Sincerely, Joe Torre
I found the reference to the Rockets record since 2007 to be very intriguing, about them being 3rd in the division in that time period. That corresponds to Morey's tenure, and would hence seem to be the only reason to bring it up. Sounds very much like him saying Morey ain't getting it done. Combine that with the fact that it was Alexander even speaking, and not Morey, and I think you confirm that picture.
You misunderstood. The comment was that the Rockets have the 3rd best record in the entire league in the last 10 years (only behind SAS and DAL), not in the Division.
It's pretty inaccurate to try and claim the Rockets have the third best record of the last 10 years because they haven't actually made any playoff runs, other than last season. If you asked 10 NBA fans who the best 3 teams of the last 10 years were, I guarantee none of them would say Rockets, they wouldn't even think about it. The fact that the Rockets notch up regular season wins doesn't hold water when you consider the lack of playoff success. Claiming they are one of the best teams in the last decade just shows how far Morey has his head up his own ass. Does he really believe the Rockets are that good? I thought he was smarter than that.
It's "inaccurate" to state a fact? It's an accurate stat but all it really means is that we haven't had any really bad seasons in the last decade.
All he needs to understand is that in those 10 years the Rockets missed the playoffs three times and lost in the first round five times. In fact over the last 19 years they've missed the playoffs 7 times and lost in the first round 9 times. Three times, THREE TIMES, in 19 years they've made it past the first round of the playoffs. Yay... you're the bestest owner in sports Les! Still gravy training off championship teams you had little to do with.
"only 3 or 4 teams have been to the Western Conference Finals as many times as us in the last 10 years" what a bizarre cherry picking stat if I've ever seen one. the qualifier is "as many times as us...", which is ONCE. so he's counting on the teams that have also made it to the Conference Finals one time in the last decade. That obviously discounts the teams that have made it multiple times to the Western Conference Finals in the last decade, including Dallas, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, The Lakers, The Suns, and the Warriors. so, the three or four teams he is naming here who have joined the Rockets in such illustrious company are.... wait for it... Utah Jazz(2007) Denver Nuggets(2009) Memphis Grizzlies(2013)
"Only 40% of the teams in the West have made it to the Conference Finals more than us in the last 10 years." - Les
OK inaccurate is probably the wrong word. Misleading would be more appropriate. Despite the fact that the Rockets have racked up a lot of regular season wins, in no way, shape or form have they been even close to being one of the top 3 teams of the last 10 years.
Can MDA and his assistants fix the Harden the cancer? Harden is a cancer offensively and defensively. We shall see...
