This sounds like a typical Rockets move. Wait and wait then make the wrong move.

Look, if Dwight opts in at $23 million it really limits what we can do both in free agency and on the trade market.

Feigen just shot this down...looks like they just followed up with all the coaching candidates, but no formal second interviews have been done.

    Not surprised

Maury has a history of disrespecting the value of coaching and hiring the worst coaches in the NBA like McFail or JBB or Pringles if this comes true

    "Coaching doesn't matter"

Yes, but D'Antoni should not be the head coach.

Coach Pringles is only effective if his teams are absolutely loaded with offensive talent....and we have one player that can create their own offense.

    Pass.

Lol, definitely not a guy that would "shore up the defense."

I'm all in on Jeff Van Gundy. With that being said, I feel some of you are forgetting how miserably ineffective his offense was here... Before he went away from coaching for several years. While I am not hoping for a D'Antoni hiring, you can see why an owner would be attracted to a high paced "exciting" offense over a defensive minded guy with an ineffective offense. If you hire JVG you almost need D'antoni on his bench. If you hire D'antoni you almost need JVG on his bench. Either way you are pulling from opposite sides of the spectrum.

To top it off the JVG-Rockets divorce was pretty nasty. I can see where both sides may have some reservations.

I do not want Dwight opting in and if that is the difference between JVG coaching and not, I'd prefer not to have him.

Would be interesting to see how Harden's opinion factors into D'Antoni's fate. I would imagine he doesn't have the best rep right now. If morey and brown are team Van Gundy and harden is anti dantoni, it might level off.
