No. You are stuck with an owner that genuinely believes that he knows what is best when it comes to building a competitive team that can win a championship.

If the Rockets hire Mike D'Antoni, it will be because Les Alexander has been convinced/sold that it gives the Rockets the best chance to win.

Now we can debate that Les Alexander doesn't know what is best, but it isn't that he only wants to make a profit. He genuinely believes that as owner he is in the best position to decide what will yield winning and championships.

    How do you define "interview"?

Is meeting in person with the owner multiple times any better or worse than another formal interview?

    IDK.

No... Adelman was respectable and one of the best coaches we've had.

It's not an interview. They are just hanging out, because Les already gave the job of HC and GM to D'Antoni. Waiting for formal announcement.

True and at the same time sad. What is the love fascination with D'Antoni? He had a good run with Phienix, but been blah since.

If you were Harden, who would you pick, JVG or D'Antoni?

D'Antoni must interview really well. Because no one who hasn't interviewed him likes him.

He knows basketball extremely well and isn't afraid to discuss it.

He still has a lot of fans in NBA front offices and I would be surprised if he isn't an NBA coach again in the next year. He was almost coach of the Sixers when Colangelo took over for Heinke.

D'Antoni... easily. It's not because D'Antoni favors offense, but rather the pace and style is similar to what brought Harden success in the first place.

Honestly, it's a beautiful bit of coincidence (or maybe not) that the Rockets are at a crossroads like D'Antoni vs. JVG. It's human nature to have the following options when confronted by failure: double down and repeat what you did before with twice the effort, or start over and take a whole new approach to the problem. A LOT of people choose the former assuming its easier. I've done this to myself too many times to count.

The best thing for us would be a charismatic head coach with a defensive mindset (like Jeff) AND a good offensive assistant (like D'Antoni) cause yeah, we need defense/discipline, but we also need someone who can bring leadership from the bench, someone able to push Harden in this aspect, Jeff may be ok in this role, D'Antoni eh...

I think what is most important to Les is yes, winning. But, winning in exciting ways. A team that has the best D ever but worst O ever would probably not be okay with Les. He said for the first time in his Rockets ownership life, he walked out of a Rockets game at halftime. Not because they were losing, but because it was so ugly to watch. Every fan felt this way. For me personally, watching the Rockets this year was an actual chore. For the first time in my life, i didn't really want to watch any of it, but couldn't help to because i suppose Houstonians love pain and misery.

Going from such ugly basketball to JVG's non existent offense seems highly unlikely to me. That's why i do believe the D'Antoni rumor. The thinking is making a high octane offense and surrounding D'Antoni with great defensive minds, but the problem is thinking were the first team that has thought of that. Were not. He has never won anything and neither has JVG.

I know they already said they are out, but i'm sticking to my hopes of a college coach or up and comer.
