Who do you think was right? Marc Stein or Jonathan Feign?

Who to believe? The beat writer with reliable sources inside the organization or the ESPN Dallas homer who kisses Cuban's ass? Tough choice.

So is it bull****? And why are Vogel and Messina part of the 'process', but not interview yet? Sounds like a lot of different ingredients and sauces provided by the chef for the reporters to 'serve'.

#1 on my wishlist is Messina.

However, I'm indifferent and not unhappy with any of the following options:

    JVG + great offensive assistant
    D'Antoni + great defensive assistant

In fact, I'd almost rather D'Antoni because he has been an overqualified assistant, so I know he will place value in the presence of a defensive assistant having felt the benefits/limitations of a top assistant.

I am shocked people prefer JVG over D'Antoni so much. They are the same but inverse.

Yes, it's our defense rather than offense which was the problem but considering the majority of the roster and entire coaching staff is likely to change, we are not building on last year.

The only significant carry-over is James Harden and I'm equally interested in JVG's ability to get him to improve defensively as I am D'Antoni's ability to diversify and open up Harden's offensive game.

I think the difference is their personalities. JVG I know will hold harden responsible on D. D'Antonio I'm not so sure.

Your players and team should reflect the personality and values of the head coach, not lead assistant. I'm not sure JVG would ve my top choice, but I'd take him over D'Antonio any day

Maybe Stein is just working to scare Dwight and give more chances to Cubes

Well JVG is extremely well respected and he can definitely handle locker room friction, etc. And most importantly, structure will be put into place.

Now this may or may not be true, but IMO: JVG will have less problems (than say a D'Antoni) attracting extremely well qualified assistants.

I wouldn't even rule out the possibility of JVG and MD as lead assistant. I just don't see it happening the other way around.

Also JVG is a great basketball mind (not saying MD isn't) and he has been watching tons and tons of games. He watched the league change into more of an uptempo style and he is willing to change his offensive philosophy.

MD in his last few stints didn't seem to be too willing to depart from what he did in PHX and failed. As lead assistant for the offense, I'd be cool with him though.

All that said, JVG was and still is my #1 option followed closely by Vogel

JVG as head coach, and Messina as his lead assistant is what I would like for our Houston Rockets.

Hire D'Antoni, sign Jerry Lin, let him be the next Nash, and send Harden to the bench (where he belongs) as the sixth man. What a perfect scenario. :D

What are they going to trade us BigMaloe? That's the problem in any trade scenario with Dwight. Teams will want him on a one year deal. But they're not going to give any value for him.
