Ditto that, Da Wink!!! Bibby not only can nail clutch jumpers (ask Kobe), but can pass the ball VERY well. Bibby hasn't had to be a big passer with guys like Divac, Webber and Miller on his team, but if asked to sit back and give us 14 pts. and 8 assists, Bibby can do it. I like this, and hope Sacramento has its eyes on salary cap room for a free agent later on.
If Kings is looking for dump contracts and rebuild the team, this trade does make sense. If this trade goes down, Kings will have only 38M of contract.
T-Mac's issue on defense when he came here was effort. People had already said he had the ability to play defense like Scottie Pippen, in fact many made that comparison.
Problem with Peja is that he STRETCHES the defense on both ends the madador may give us 20pts but how many will he give and worse yet. . .how many fouls will be accounted for because Yao was trying to stop his man Rocket River
I'm thinking you could hide Peja's defensive weaknesses with the ability to play zone now in the NBA. His length could be very useful in that kind of defensive alignment. I'm just saying I'll take Peja too, if the Kings are just looking to get something for him. Both players(Peja and Bibby) greatly help the Rockets and their needs.
that is different from NOT being able to play defense (i.e. Peja). Having the ability to play defense and coasting (i.e. TMac at times and Swift) is a lot different than being a matador (i.e. Peja). Sure both are bad, but one can turn it on when he's willing to and the other cannot. You think Peja can lock down Dirk like TMac did?
Heck no, I don't. I was agreeing with you. The only knock on T-Mac defensively before the trade was the effort he made. People always said he could D up like Pippen, one of the best defenders all time. That is not claiming he couldn't be a good defender, it's saying he was getting a reputation as being lazy on that end of the court. But I do think that not every player on the floor has to be a good defender to play good fundamental team defense. Especially with JVG's defensive knowledge.
I'm scared to give Peja big bucks when he has a bad back. As for Bibby, I'd trade Head, Rafer, Swift, a No. 1, and expiring contracts, and also take back one of Sacs bad contracts in addition to Bibby. Even that would not be enough to get him, however. Bibby is only 27, and Sac can't get under the salary cap for two years, so why would they trade him?
Peja I wouldn't even consider, but Bibby would be a great addition and a great fit, and would give us sudden depth in the backcourt we haven't had, a ballhandler/distributor, AND a third scoring option all in one; you can't beat that package. Otherwise, I don't want anyone else they got (except for Miller of course if they want Howard in return and draft pick or something; I wouldn't give the Swift for Miller, however).
I find it hard to believe that the Kings might be willing to trade Bibby to us. I think he would be a solid addition and could help us making the playoffs.
The only reason I think they would be reluctant to trade another one of their 'star' players is because fans there are still angry over the Webber trade, and most blame management for trading him away and ruining the team, which was a top-tier team year-in and year-out. However, if this season goes to complete waste for the Kings with no hope in sight, then I think it's very likely that they go into 'rebuilding mode' and trade Peja and Bibby away for cap space. Still, if anyone is going to be gone, it's likely Peja before Bibby, unless they would rather let Peja just walk...
Is Skinner healthy? He could be useful. I think KT is better than either of our pfs we currently have but his contract is gross.
