what about the NYTimes, which has significant billionaire foreign ownership. what about it's contributions in kind to the democrats?
And Fox News is owned by an Australian? We're not talking about in-kind contributions, we're talking about direct financial contributions.
So you agree the money for the IPads is coming from the stockholders but you still think it is not the stockholder's purchase? Whose is it then?
Watching the whiplash as wingnuts now pretend that they've never been concerned with foreign influence over U.S. elections is almost as fun as when they pretended that an Arab firm controlling U.S. ports was no big deal.
I'm sure the bassmaster is referring to the very existence of the New York Times, which is obviously just one big advertisement for Democrats.
News Corp. Shareholder Objects to G.O.P. DonationsBy MICHAEL D. SHEAR A private foundation that owns a small amount of stock in the News Corporation has written a letter to the company’s board objecting to its political contributions to Republican causes. The Nathan Cummings Foundation, which promotes progressive causes, owns 3,820 shares of the News Corporation, with a value of about $52,000. The foundation is described on its Web site as being “rooted in the Jewish tradition and committed to democratic values and social justice, including fairness, diversity, and community.″ In the letter, obtained by The Caucus, the foundation calls for complete disclosure of all political spending by the News Corporation before Friday, when the company’s board of directors meets for its annual shareholders meeting. ... http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/13/news-corp-shareholder-objects-to-g-o-p-donations/
Except that the NY Times controlling stock is still held by the descendent's of the original founder - they have 90% of that stock. The publcally traded stock does is not able to influence decisions.
So basically the answer is no, you can't identify any donations by the Times Corp- because they haven't made any. Nor has any other media outfit that I know of. Most likely because it hasn't really been legal until Johnny "I love me some corporate campaign cash!" Roberts opened up the floodgates in January with Citizens United. The News Corp direct donation from general treasury funds is kind of an unprecedented thing - that is why people are talking about it.
how will the decisions be made, because there isn't enough money to extend the lives of every hard working american. Who gets it, and who doesn't? Decisions will be made someway or another.
The part that shows you know nothing about capitalism? Which kinda is the whole post. Let me help you out my young commie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporation We will reform you. Oh, by the way, the above means that yes, Corporation can have bank accounts.
So you are of the position that corporations are human? Isn't the liberal argument that corporations are not human and thus have not rights guaranteed by the Constitution. I will just have to save this post of yours for the next time you try speaking on the matter.
He accused them of taking foreign money, and using that money for electioneering communications - yes we have tons of evidence of this. From foreign members of the domestic COC, to its foreign satellites, there is a mountainous paper trail documenting this activity. On the other hand, you can't identify any donations by the Times Corp. THe reason for this, is because they haven't made any.
