The cumulative elements that make up the Spurs is the anomaly.

The entire culture of the organization + the personality of their star players + the coaching staff.

You just don't see that mix and it is unlikely the Rockets or many other teams can duplicate it because of all of the factors involved.

So you want "at least two superstars", yet you hope Morey fails to get another superstar? Last time I checked, "at least two" literally means "two or more" You just not making any sense, dude.

I'm so glad Clutch made an ignore list so I don't have to see nonsense posts from trolling Spurs fans

    Right and right.

To add to that: the Ray Allen's, Shane Battier's, and similar type vets will line up at the door to get one last run at a title on said exceptions.

The will line up for Lebron, Wade and Bosh. Who besides Francisco Garcia lined up for Harden and Dwight?

I think he meant they would line up AFTER we acquire a third star. Even then though, it seems like the only two teams that players are willing to take a major discount to play for are Miami and the Clippers. Everybody else has to pay market value or more.

OKC did get Fisher and Caron Butler, they are kind of washed up but the same can be said about many of the "ring-chasing" vets to one degree or another, especially those post trade deadline waiver guys.

I wonder how big a draw Dwight and Harden are to ring chasers at this point. They are big names but this is still just one of a number of good but not great teams out there. And will the third star tip the scale in people's mind?

We'll see. HOU was a bit handicapped for only having the "room exception" and minimums to work with last year. Teams like CHI, MIL and MIN were able to outbid HOU, sometimes substantially, for role players like C.Brewer, Delfino and Dunleavy. And Morey seems to prefer youth over vets for several of the roster spots-- Daniels, Covington, Casspi, Smith.

There are plenty of arguments against it, but first you have to tell me what player you're talking about.

I would also say there are good arguments for not throwing seasons away while hoping to land a "superstar".

i dont think we go after lowry.

i like him, but PG is without a doubt the deepest position in the league. it doesnt make sense to spend a lot on a fringe all-star PG when SO many are available.

then again we did dish it out for lin, but I dont see us signing any PG to an expensive contract

To be fair those teams were a lot more fun to watch than the current team (at least IMO).

Those guys aren't going to lineup for the 2014-15 version of Lebron, Wade, and Bosh though. If suppose KG or Pierce wants one last shot at another ring, they're definitely choosing Houston over Miami, assuming we get another star player.

If Oculus Rift is released before then, Morey can just stay home and pretend to acquire LeBron James while eating pancakes at his home.

This is where you are wrong. Morey thought the Heat would struggle by doing 3 big contracts.

You get 3 max players, take up 75% of your cap, then vets come for cheap and you draft cheap rookies.

That strategy is so much better than average players at 7mil. That's just stupid.

Big rocks in first, little rocks in the gap. Why melo though? Idk, I'm curious too.

Your opinion would be in the very, very minority.

Clearly the option 2 is the only real one. Chasing superstars at this point is a bad idea. Having a scoring machine like Melo on the roster will make Dwight and Harden unhappy, because their stats will plummet. Look at the Knicks and the Lakers and their star chasing. That has more or less collapsed those teams. Actually the only hope for the Knicks not to be in the lottery next year is Melo leaving.

The Cavs are the best example of the option 3. The appearing "great stars" (=top picks) are infighting who is the alpha dog, the team meanwhile going nowhere.

Teams that have a great chemistry, like the Spurs, Bulls, Suns, Mavericks etc are always serious contenders. Indiana, before Lance Stevenson pulled the plug, was one such team as well.

Most of the Rockets players bought in to the concept that there are the stars and the rest is the supporting crew. Asik had a problem with it and it cost the Rockets in the beginning of the season. Lin occasionally also plays beyond his "job description". I can understand that. Asik rightfully thinks he is a starter and Lin does want to keep the LinSanity alive. However, Asik is not a starter in a team having Dwight Howard on the roster. Similarly Lin can't play LinSanity in a team consisting of Howard, Harden and Parsons.

The Rockets will iron those bumps out before the next season and will be a very formidable team to play against. For me Melo and Love are negatives for the team chemistry. Don't go after them. Bledshoe is another story. That would be a great addition.

Point taken on the cap issue. However, Leslie paying a great amount of tax has not happened before so why would he now?? He didn't do it in 2008-09 when we were clearly going to be championship contender, he didn't do it this year so why would he do it next year?

Your latter point is just silly. It's not like I'm saying there is no coherent argument for adding a superstar..

Why not making a GM NBA video game for XBox and PS4?

You can play the role of Morey, Pat Riley, Sam Presti, or the GM of the imploding Lakers.

Select your accessories (iPad, club tickets, whatever the heck oklahoma has), visit players with a famous player or Jack Nicholson, wine and dine, text other general managers, complete trades, and then simulate the season!

    I would buy it.
