New norm for US. As with other similar moves, Trump just took the US out of being an intermediary, at least for his presidency. This is consistent of Trump pulling US out of international leadership role.

The two state solution was lost in 1948. The Arab coalition wanted war. They got war.

The "settlers" are not moving. Some probably live in homes and communities that are not affordable to many of us here on CF.

Why didn't they call emergency meetings in 1995 and since then? Why not call an emergency meeting this past summer when the US Senate passed this exact resolution with a 90-0 vote. Trump signed 6-month waiver btw..., basically punting and using the same waiver that has been signed since 1995 by all presidents. 90-0, wow talk about bipartisanship! Should we talk about that amazing bipartisanship or continue to blame Trump and label him a reckless, loose canon?

All Trump huh? Are you sure? Any credit/blame at all for the 90-0 Senate vote 6 months ago? Nah... all Trump and on his own.

Also, why didn't they call an emergency meeting when Russia recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital earlier this year?

Where was the leftist outrage then?

I think I know way more than you do on this topic for many reasons including the fact that you didn't know about the senate vote 6 months ago. So you go read up.

Maybe you are finally starting to realize that the goal of almost nobody is the two-state solution. It is mainly a talking point to fade the heat as Israel keeps building hundreds of thousands of homes and puts in more Jewish only roads and services.

Time for Israel/Palestine to join the modern western world and adopt a system like the United States with equal rights for all regardless of ethnicity or religion. I know -- America and Israel's great ally Saudi Arabia and some other countries also fail to have equal rights for all, but so what.

Trump is a fool of fools. Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was a bargaining chip the US had with both the Israelis and the Palestinians, and he just threw it away for nothing.

So much for Art of a Deal. More like the Art of fleecing your country to make your base happy

I would not be surprised if Egypt and Saudi Arabia were pushing towards that.
Saudi Arabia is trying to make Israel fight their war against Hizbulla/Iran for a while now with not much success.
Israel, the Palastinians and the US are just another chips in the endless arab wars against each other over Islamic control.
However this one ends, Im sorry for the American diplomats that will have to leave their amazing property in Tel Aviv by the beach and go to Jerusalem with all the crazy people.

Well .. I think it will be longer than that
because we probably won't be intermediaries while it is in Jerusalem
    and
The Demos won't move it again
    So . . . .

The only poised threat to the US may come from another Israelis victory celebration by sinking another USS Liberty
they would be delusional to think so, ...and
this is a contradictory unique way to dismiss post Israel-Iran-contra, which most in ME are convinced they're just partners , sponsored by the US and Russia

Probably because the Russians also stated they only recognized the Western part of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and reiterated that they support the Eastern part of being the capital of a future Palestinian state.

    From the link:
“We reaffirm our commitment to the UN-approved principles for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement, which include the status of East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. At the same time, we must state that in this context we view West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” the Foreign Ministry in Moscow said in a statement.
    ...
At this point it is unclear whether the Israeli government would welcome the recognition of West Jerusalem as its capital, since Israel claims the entire city as its eternal united capital.

Recognizing only the Western part of it would appear to deny Israel’s claims to the eastern part, including the Old City, which it captured in 1967 and subsequently annexed. The Russian statement specifically said that Moscow views “East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state.”"

Also in yet another possible Trump and Russia tie the article states this.

"Russia’s surprising announcement came as US President Donald Trump considers moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It is unclear what prompted Moscow’s decision and whether other countries in its sphere of influence will follow suit."
