I still don't think we should be eager to trade, unless we get a real opportunity. just for fun... Yao for Kobe (Lets see what phil does with yao, plus if there's a player in the league who could make up some of the publicity we lose from yao, it's kobe) Battier, Alston, James, for Ben Wallace ya, this is gonna happen... Steve Francis Kobe Bryant Tracy McGrady Chuck Hayes Ben Wallace ...holy crap the more i think about that... (obviously tracy+lkobe, but also Hayes+Wallace = holy ****!) Aaron Brooks Luther Head Bonzi Wells Kirk Snyder Luis Scola Mutombo (im not good at this)
*forgot to ass* plus kobe and tmac are very good buds. kobe would would be slapping tracy on the head whenever he stands around, or shies away from the paint. i think they would challenge each other so much, and at the same time they would play together. Would be crazy to see kobe and tracy each average over 10 assists per game to each other, and which ever one has the hot hand on a particular night, would end up with 50 points, the other just 20-30. Meanwhile, Wallace and Hayes, would be controlling the paint and grabbing rebounds, and defending the paint on defense. Plus if you made the mistake of doubling tracy and kobe at the same time, it would be a walk in the park to chunk the ball to a wide-open Wallace or Wells for an uncontested dunk. Francis would just be standing around laughing like a little school girl watching tmac and kobe putting on a show together. Every now and then he would just back door to the rim and get an easy dunk because the defense will forget about him som much, he'll average 8 points a game by that alone. Or we could could just have Novak in there and just roam around freely outside the 3 point line. I'm just rambling and it's never going to happen, but could you imagine Tracy and Kobe playing together on the same team? They wouldn't even need 5 players on offense. I can imagine steve a smith's voice during a highlight reel, "the Tracy, Kobe pick and roll, is there any one team in the league who can defend it(lol)?"
This is exactly what the rockets need.I can't believe morey didn't pull the trigger on the Battier for wilcox trade.
Okay...Kobe would agree to this trade...and it works numbers wise...but don't ask me why anyone else would..you guess about that! Head/Snyder to Atlanta for Josh Childress. Sign him to an extension in the $4-6 million range over 2-3 years.
Some completely random trades in this completely random thread... McGrady to Chicago for Hinrich, Deng, Joe Smith and Adrian Griffin. McGrady, Luther and Novak and 15 first round picks to Cleveland for LeBron James and Larry Hughes. McGrady + to Clippers for Maggette and Brand. McGrady to Memphis for Rudy Gay, Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry and Brian Cardinal. McGrady and Novak and 10 first round picks for Dwyane Wade, Mark Blount and Smush Parker. McGrady to Philadelphia for Andre Miller, Andre Iguodala and Reggie Evans. McGrady to Portland for Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Travis Outlaw, Brandon Roy, Jarrett Jack. With this trade we'd be the current Portland with Yao instead of Przybilla at 5. We'd also get a good backup centre for Yao next year when Deke retires... (hey, it works under the CBA) McGrady and Shane to Sacramento for Bibby, Artest and Kevin Martin. McGrady to Toronto for Jose Calderon. McGrady to Washington for Caron Butler, Antonio Daniels and Deshawn Stevenson.
Best trade of all -- Kirk Snyder for Gerald Green of Minneapolis. Snyder has a bigger expiring contract if they can't use him. Green, also an expiring contract, would fit the Adelman system well and would give us more options when T-Mc is hurt.
Posted this in the White Chocolate thread already, but figured it belonged here as well... Grizzlies ship out an old PG who is being phased out by Lowry and Conley anyway, and a SF (Warrick) who is lost in the shuffle and is going to walk after this year. They gain an athletic wing (Snyder) who could possibly thrive in their offense and is expiring, as well as a 22 year old G/F with great potential (Wright) who also happens to be expiring. Miami loses their veteran PG (Williams) and a G/F (Wright) who they may not keep next year because they are still in "win now" mode until Shaq retires and Wright is wet behind the ears. They bring in another veteran PG (Stoudamire), and a couple of gunners in James and Head. They're hurting from losing Kapono and this move could help them out in the 3 point department, especially with the wide open looks these guys would get from Wade/Shaq. Rockets give up 2 guys that have been relegated to the bench as of late (Snyder, James) and a tweener (Head) who brings shooting and little else. Head would be a keeper if he never had to handle PG duties, but on this team he does. Meanwhile, Rockets gain another elite ball handler (not to be confused with elite PG) with experience in Adelman's system and happens to have a large expiring contract. They also pick up an athletic big who can swing between the 3 and the 4. He fills the void the Rockets have for a long, quick, athletic specimen. Also has an expiring contract if they don't like his outlook. I think this is a realistic trade that I do if I'm the Rockets.
What is your point, thumbs? Unless they trade him again there is really no point in paying someone more than they have to to fill the same role, i.e. sit on the bench. I agree anyhow, I'd do this trade. I am pretty disappointed in Snyder this season. At worst it's a lateral move for us. Also Minnesota wouldn't ask for much as they didn't pick up their option on his contract but Snyder makes no sense. Unless they see him as part of their future which I doubt.
Now lets think for a moment..trading Tmac is a good idea, mainly because his contract is for three years at max. He is often inured, making it an albatross on the Rox payroll...So, Rox must think about the future when trading him, or the roster will be the same till he is gone. Teams know of his fragility, so the Rox must take some pain to rid them of his contract. I say... Tmac for Giricek, Kirlenko, and Ronnie Brewer. Giricek has an expiring contract. Utah is struggling, so they might be inclined to make a trade that doesnt involve Boozer, William, or Milsap. With Kirlinko, Rox will finally have a shot blocking, scoring, power forward, which can always be valuable for a future trade. Brewer can fill the wing spot left by tracy, and he is cheap, and Giricek is just a good idea since he has an expiring. The only problem is Utah will now have a starting lineup of Williams, Boozer, and Tracy which is pretty scary. Houston has to be looking to the future, this year doesnt look good.
The reason for trading expiring contracts is we get a much better player in Green. Our lineup would be Brooks (5-10); Green (6-8); T-Mc (6-8); Scola (6-10); and Yao (7-6). The first four can run and Yao can pound -- Showtime Redeaux. Minnesota does it because they get a bigger expiring contract. They do not have enough room for Green -- or Snyder -- so they get a bigger expiring. Heck, I'd toss in a second rounder in the bargain. And, if they wanted Luther instead of Snyder, I'd do that too.
Rockets need more shooting or simply someone who'll make his shots. Head+Snyder+Francis for Brent Barry Spurs are loaded with players over 30. They need to get younger. Speculation is Barry might retire or move elsewhere for a better role. Head gives them 3pt shooting, what Barry is giving them now, but with another year at a Rookie salary and they'll have his bird rights after that. Snyder is another younger player whose bird rights they'll retain as well as being an expiring contract. Francis is also an expiring contract and upgrade over Jacque Vaughn.
Yes, but what's the point of a bigger expiring contract? As an example - if they pay 50 mil in salary + Green's salary and the Rockets pay 50 mil in salary + Snyder's and Snyder's salary is bigger than Green's, then after this season both teams will have 50 mil committed to salary. The Wolves wouldn't gain anything from this move. They'd just be doing us a favor for paying bigger money this season. They don't benefit now nor do they in the long run (offseason). We would have to trade Snyder + cash for Green or, as you said, add a draft pick. So again, either I'm completely missing your point or what?
Yes. We get a better player in Green -- probably a starter in our system -- and a better chance to retain him. The Wolves have the same option if Snyder fits their system and, if not, they get more room under the cap than Green's expiring would provide (plus a pick if need be).
I still think Trading Yao for Kobe might be the best trade we could make if thats what we were set on doing. We could easily get Ben Wallace, or we could give up a little more and get Jermain Oneil(who wants to play for rockets over any team, great friends of tmac). Let's just talk about Tracy and Kobe on the Rockets together though. Seems like that's never brought up anywhere. Nobody ever talks about trading Yao, but if we could get Kobe for him??? Hell... I think they would be the best duo in the league. I think they'd play together alot better than tracy does with yao. They play the same style and both together could keep each other up to a very high level every night. We should easily be able to get Jermaine to go along with them too, who would also fit in with Tracy and Kobe 2,000x better than Yao, and Adelman's offense for that matter. We lose: Yao, Battier, James, Alston, 1st round pick. We receive: Kobe Bryant, Jermaine Oneil Starting five: Brooks Kobe Tracy Hayes Oneil bench: Francis Head Bonzi Scola Snyder Novak Landry Deke I think this might be the best trade scenerio for us.
I understand why we do it. But you're wrong about the bolded part. They don't. It doesn't matter which contract they let expire. They'll have the same amount committed to salary for next season either way. I thought my example was pretty clear. By getting Snyder and giving up Green they lose money this season because from the trade point on they have to pay Snyder's salary which is bigger. When the season ends, what comes off their payroll is basically Green's salary + the amount Snyder has over him. They are better off just letting Green expire. Think about it.
*also* for crying out loud, the offense would be so much smoother and faster from the tip off. The game would remain fast-paced for 48 minutes. Yao does good with Adelman's system, but i think it looks alot more natural when he's on the bench and Scola plays for him. Come on guys, back me up here. I love Yao too, but damn. Tell me if we could pull this off it wouldn't make a night and day difference with running the ball and help tracy play up to his capability.
I rather trade Yao for Kobe than T-mac for Kobe. Yao for Kobe is more realistic. Man, T-mac and Kobe is going to be crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
