Here's the radio spot with the talk about the trade rumors. I've yet to find Vescey's original article, but even with one it doesn't add much to the legitimacy. It is interesting to think about though. I think Redd would be an excellent complement to Yao and Villanueva would give us an upgrade at the 4. The first rounder would have a chance to be pretty good as well. http://wssp.radiotown.com/audio/sparky/010308_SparkyTradeRumors.mp3
Ok.......don't want Dunleavy???? Here's the ultimate. Battier, James, Snyder, Head and our #1 pick to Portland for either: 1. Darius Miles, Travis Outlaw, Jarrett Jack, and Portland's #1. or. 2. Darius Miles, James Jones, Channing Frye and Portland's #1. Here's the deal. Portland gets a long term salary dump of Miles' contract obviously. They get a glue guy in Battier that in either trade will pick up quality minutes, either Outlaw's or James Jones' minutes. They also get a 3 point shooter in Head and a penetrator/finisher/shooter in James. We get Miles (trash), plus either Outlaw and Jarrett Jack, better fits for Adelman or James Jones and Frye. Jones becomes our designated 3 point bomber and Frye becomes the backup big to Yao and completes our 4-some of bigs. The clincher is the draft pick exchange. Both picks unprotected for 2008. Since we are swapping them, the incentive for both teams is to play well and knock the other team out of the playoffs since that pick would then turn into a lottery pick. Portland is actually ahead of us in the standings right now. This will put pressure on both teams to work their way past the other team. I think it would be a great scenario. The huge negative for us is of course Miles. But I'll take Miles to upgrade either the athleticism or the shooting and unclog our roster a little bit. I'll also take a shot at the lottery. I think Portland will fade and we could wind up with another good young stud out of the draft. Also, James Jones is hands down one of the 3 best shooters in the NBA right now. Simply unbelievable. Also, if it did turn out to be Outlaw/Jack, Outlaw is the kind of athlete that can thrive running the floor with Brooks/Rafer. And Jack is another young point that can shoot and play D.
My idea is Trade with Indy... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...~2834~2763~532&teams=10~10~11~11~11&te=&cash= Jermaine, Granger, for Tmac, Head, and Chuck. Jermaine starts at PF, Granger at SF. Starting five, Rafer, Battier, Granger, Oneal, and Yao. WOW No one would score inside on us.
Trade with Miami... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...34~2763~532&teams=10~10~10~14~14~14&te=&cash= Udonis gives us a true PF with midrange shot. Ricky Davis and Jwill are expiring this year, just in case we dont make playoffs and need to rebuild.
hmm, i would want dorrel wright too though, but it sounds good bc of the expiring...How much money would we have to offer a player(s) in the off season if this deal was done?
well, we would have these player coming off of the books- Bonzi, Francis, Jwill, Deke, and Ricky Davis. Our core would be Rafer, Brooks, Battier, Udonis,Scola, and Yao. We would have some mega millions to get new players, maybe keep Bonzi.
If there is a trade with Tmac, I would only considered Mike Bibby and Ron Artest. If Rockets add these two players without giving up Yao, Bonzi and Scola, we will dominate.
These are our best options if we trade T-Mac. I figure teams like Detriot, Boston, SA, Dallas, Orlando,Cleveland, Toronto, and Portland are out of the question. I tried to focus on teams that would be willing to possibly break-up their core, for a change. Here are the best ideas I could come up with: Atlanta- Mcgrady for Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams Chicago- Mcgrady for Luol Deng and Ben Wallace G.S.- Mcgrady for Baron Davis and Mickael Pietrus Indiana- Mcgrady for Jermaine O'Neal Mil.- Mcgragy for Michael Redd and Charlie Villanueva N.J.- Mcgrady for Jason Kidd Phoe. Mcgrady for Shawn Marion Wash. (There are multiple scenerios when Agent Zero comes back!!!) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Personally I would just wait for Gilbert Arenas to return and try to work out something with them. He is a FA this summer, and he could be the Bibby in the Adelman offense that was so successful in SAC. I would offer Mcgrady, plus spare parts to get it done!!!!
Dunleavy's an interesting choice. He can play PG and is probably better as a guard than at SF. If the Rockets were to add him I'd prefer it to be a reunion of the Dukies than a swap of. Mostly just to see what the ready made chemistry brings.
Messing around. We trade Head and two good contracts for Jaric and Green. Jaric is a bit old but he is a tall PG/SG who can shoot the 3. He's about as good as Head maybe? Steve and Snyder go for Green. Gerald Green is about the dreaded potential. If we think he has big upside, why not go for it? He gets no run with Minn just like Snyder gets none with us. His contract is ending this year, if he hasn't shown a lot then we can resign him cheap before he blows up? He can shoot the 3, is from Houston, and is said to be pretty athletic (6'8"). Minn takes Steve and Snyder to help get them room to maneuver for a big free agent in 1 or 2 years. (I'd give them James instead of S & S but they won't take it, they just had his sorry azz). This also give us an open roster spot for Mike Harris. Houston Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -2.2 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and -0.2 apg. Incoming Players Gerald Green 6-8 SF / SG from Gulf Shores Academy (HS) 4.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 12.0 minutes Marko Jaric 6-7 SG from Serbia-Montenegro (Foreign) 8.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 26.6 minutes Outgoing Players Luther Head 6-3 PG / SG from Illinois 6.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 17.2 minutes Kirk Snyder 6-6 SG from Nevada-Reno 4.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 9.5 minutes Steve Francis 6-3 PG / SG from Maryland 5.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 19.9 minutes Minnesota Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +2.2 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and +0.2 apg. nobody has commented on my idea of trading TMac for Rashard Lewis. I know TMac is the better player from a pure talent perspective, but I think this trade would work, especially if we could also snag another player in the deal. Orlando would do this trade because TMac is a better player. We would do this trade to improve chemistry and get rid of a player with persistant injury concerns. Here is why it works: 1. salaries match 2. TMac dreams of playing with Howard 3. Rashard Lewis is hometown hero 4. Brings value to both teams TMac is an elite player but he has not been able to establish chemistry with this team. The role players like Alston and Scola seem to perform better without TMac dominating the flow of the offense. Lewis is a small forward but doesnt have such an opressive presence in the offense, so I think he will have better chemistry with Yao and company. Starting lineup: Alston/Bonzi/Lewis/Hayes/Yao Bench: Battier, Scola, Brooks, Head, etc Not a significant improvement on paper, but I think this arrangement will flo better than what we have right now.
What has Gerald Green done on the court, during NBA games, to make anybody think he is going to be a player?
There is one team that I see out there that should be our target for trades: MILWAUKEE. They are over the cap and Charlie Bell is just ripping them up because he does not want to be there. Plus they've got the issue with Yi having to start, and at this point it looks justified. I think their base is Redd, Mo Will, Gadzuric, and Yi. Everybody else is trade bait. And the main players that they are logically going to want to move if possible would be Bell (bad attitude, doesn't want to be there), Simmons (relegated to coming off the bench for 20 mpg while making over $9 mill) and possibly Gadzuric (lot of dollars for not very many minutes and production). To move these guys, Milwaukee is probably looking for some sort of combination of expiring contracts, young cheap talent, and draft picks. So, how about one of these two deals: 1. Simmons, Bell, and Villanueva for Battier, James, Snyder, Head, and Novak. Milwaukee gets Novak to come home as a backup shooter off the bench, a cheaper version of Bell in Head (and a decent attitude), and a lower cost version of Bobby Simmons in Battier (almost identical stats, but Battier is $4 mill cheaper, and the superior defender). They also get Snyder's expiring. We get Simmons to replace Battier (a little expensive but he's got more offensive potential and can run the floor better), Bell to replace James and Head (this guy is a great shooter, he's stinking it up this year because he didn't want his offer sheet matched), and Villanueva (versatile tall, athletic player more suited for an uptempo game.) I hate to give up Battier, but we've got to get better somehow and he just doesn't give us a consistent offensive threat. However, I think I would give him up in this deal. We also get the opportunity to bring back Mike Harris. 2. Deal no. 2 if no. 1 isn't feasible, would be for Milwaukee to give us Gadzuric, Bell, and Villanueva in exchange for James, Snyder, and either Francis and Novak or Head, Novak, and Laundry. Milwaukee would probably prefer the Head, Novak, Laundry version of the deal. It saves them more salary and Head/Laundry would be a better asset to them than Steve's expiring. Either of these trades makes us more versatile offensively. Gadzuric or Simmons either one will get up and down the floor quicker. Both trades have their pluses and minuses for both teams. Both Gadzuric and Simmons are overpaid. That's why Milwaukee has to give up Villanueva in the deals. We in turn take on a little more salary in the long run with these guys. We would be stuck with Gadzuric as Yao's backup because I don't see too many teams willing to pay him his salary for 10 mpg. Milwaukee is going nowhere and is looking to shed salary, get some picks and young talent. I would give them our first rounder in both deals to get them done. These players would give us the versatility to compete with teams like Golden State and Phoenix but also enough offensive skill to run the halfcourt game. We wind up with Rafer/Brooks and one other point guard, either Head or Francis. We also wind up with a great shooter at the backup 2 in Bell. We also get versatility at the 3/4/5 positions to really throw some funky lineups out there and create mismatches against just about anybody.
I wouldn't touch Simmons just another player to fall to the Ex-Clipper curse. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=703313 http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...fivedisappointments010308&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Rockets could drastically improve their rebounding by adding Reggie Evans. He would be the best rebounder on the Rockets and he's got the ability to pull them down in limited time. That's important with Hayes, Scola, and Bonzi sharing minutes at the 4. Mike James for Evans+Amundson In the long run Evans's contract is around 600k more than James so it's about the same money. Philly's interest would be that they swap for a contract that expires a year earlier. James has 2 more years while Evans has 3. Amundson makes the numbers work and has a non-guaranteed contract.
Your trade would single handedly ruin our franchise for the next 7 years. Lewis's is so insanely overpaid that we won't be able to sign any decent free agents for years. Coupled with the fact that hes no where near as good as Tmac = we'd be worse both long term and short term.
That is an interesting proposition. I know that T-Mac would like this because obviously, he lives in Orlando, and Orlando is winning right now, but I'm not sure the Magic would want back their injury prone star. Lewis would fit nicely with the Rockets because of his size and strength that T-Mac lacks, and he would fit nicely with a small rotation moving down at the 4 every once and a while when Wells, Brooks, and Head are on the floor. I just don't think Orlando would be as crazy about this trade as you think they would be. One aspect I don't like is Lewis's big fat contract, because 5-6 years from now he'll be enjoying Shaq's numbers, but will he really play at that level?
