The reason is because it is a lot harder than you think. The shot may look really easy to you, but the reality is it's not a higher percentage shot than a standard midrange jumper. I don't know if there's a way to find a ranked list of all players, but I looked up a few really good shooters, and not a single one of them can hit that shot over 50%.

Hmm, interesting. I'll admit that I'm applying a certain level of personal experience in this calculation. Watching an offensive master pull it off consistently probably doesn't help the bias. I'd still say that it uniquely fits into that unblockable range shorter than a midrange jumper but farther than a layup and should at least be a consideration in more players' arsenals.

I should clarify that I do think it's a good shot. It's a 49% shot for Harden this season, which is good, and I do think it should be used. I don't want this to be misinterpreted as me saying the floater is a bad shot. Your post just made it sound like you thought this was maybe a 60-65% shot, or maybe even higher, so I just wanted to shed some light on the real numbers here.

Read the WSJ article. We're not going to change a thing.

If they can take away the layup and the 3 from every player on the floor what does it say about your team? It says you're just slow. In our case, we're slow because the ball is faster than any player, and we do not move the ball much.

If they do everything in their power to take away everything but a mid range shot, what does that tell you about that shot? Like why do you think they want you to take it?

We need to initiate the offense with James in The Midrange sometimes to keep defenses off balance but where we take our shots is fine we need a few more cuts from the weak side corner when James is on the strong side elbow 8 to 15ft

I was interested in this, and also really bored at work, so I decided to look more into the numbers. Here's what I found:
    • Not many players take a lot of floaters, only 13 players have taken 100+ floaters this year
    • Only one player has taken over 200, Mike Conley: 111-228 for 48.68%
    • The best high volume (100+) shooter is Reggie Jackson: 71-124, 57.26%
    • The best low volume (40+) shooter is a tie between KAT and Kevin Durant who are both 30-47, 63.83%
    • Harden is 89-182, 48.90%, I feel like he could utilize this more often
    • Austin Rivers is 20-55, 36.36% on floaters, he should probably stop shooting them
    • Steph Curry is only 19-45, 42.22% on this shot
    Top 5 100+ attempt players
    1. Reggie Jackson 71-124 57.26%
    2. Monte Morris 68-123 55.28%
    3. D'Angelo Russell 82-153 53.59%
    4. CJ McCollum 81-156 51.92%
    5. Dennis Schroder 64-127 50.39%
Top 5 40+ attempt players (but less than 100)
    1. Kevin Durant 30-47 63.83%
    2. Karl-Anthony Towns 30-47 63.83%
    3. Kyle Kuzma 53-86 61.63%
    4. Nikola Jokic 50-83 60.24%
    5. Jimmy Butler 24-41 58.54%

Raw data if anyone cares (only includes players that have taken at least 40):

Golden State, Toronto, Sixers, and Thunder all have the personnel to replicate the Buck's defensive strategy, so that seems like a potential problem come play off time.

But don't stop to respond to this knee jerk reaction, keep it moving, Dumbass.

If Tucker and Gordon can't make open 3s in the Playoffs, then the team isn't good enough to win a championship.

You could also say it gave the defensive play book for the Rockets too. Milwaukee is foolish to show its defensive hand so early. You can bet that Harden and the rest of the rockets will have looked at video from the Milwaukee game. They will learn and make adjustments for that sort of defense.

I know, I know. If he actually knew how to coach we would have won like 80-90% of all our games, no matter the injuries or personnel.

How many of our playoff competitors have a defender like Bledsoe at the guard position plus Giannis on the wing combined with a myriad of other lengthy, athletic defenders?

Milwaukee was conceding wide open threes, and the Rockets proceeded to shoot like a high school team.

I stand by my comment of knee jerk reaction, it is my opinion and I didn't tell you not to express yours. But apparently it was hurtful enough that you had to call me out of my name.

But allow me to block you. It feels better.

In the future if you are not able to take an opinion response to your opinion, might wanna not post.
