There's a big difference between Osama and Shaq. One is a mass murderer, the other is a beloved basketball star. I'd say that qualifies as stereotyping. Second, the guy is persian, osama is arab. Though they share a common religion they are two different ethnic groups with different backgrounds. That's like calling a portugese person "mussolini" . So its dumb, and not necessary.
I have just noticed your post count and have figured that you are not familiar with cc.net yet.......by the way you spelled geography wrong dumbass. I'm sorry admins.
I would refrain from drafting this guy until the future because Asian basketball is still quite far away from American or even European competition. China is the best team in Asia and even they don't come close to the NBA. Let's face it, we got lucky with Yao. The guy is a prodigy with skill, brains and charm (I say this in a completely non homosexual way) and we're glad to have him. But what about the other two Chinese players, neither are getting the chance to prove themselves. While it might change in the future, I would refrain from drafting these players (like this Iranian guy and that Korean guy Ha Seung-Jin) until they can beat China first.
Korea beat China for the Asian games championship last year. I really don't think China is the best Asian basketball team; just the most scouted.
They are the best in Asia. When China plays in Asia they expect to win. If they lose it's a shock. On the other hand, if the Koreans beat the Chinese they'd celebrate.
Thank you. That was my point. Actually it is more like calling a Jewish person, Hitler. Since for 400 years persians were attacked, raped, and murdered by the muslims. Most recently by Saddam. And I will end this philosophy arguement here. This is a basketball forum for our beloved Rockets.
DAN TANNA that is the most fcuked up thing i have heard....read it more carefully and you will understand... shiet man ...keep your 5 year old comments to yourself... cause that was one shietty generalization... anyway this is a basketball forum... so let's keep it that way... nobody knows what;s goin on today . OKay....damn that is also one of the dumbest things i have heard(look at the religon of "persians"...then you will find out where you are wrong).....and buddy it has nothing to do with a philosophical arguement...haha...tooo funny!....damn tooo tooo funny!
sorry one more thing..... that persian guy is no good....one of my friends is from iran...he's seen him play and says...no game...just another tall fellow. (poor MING is going to be too tired from basketball...all year round all the guy does is play...i don't see us making the playoffs with him not rested.)
You know what, you're really stupid to say such stupid thing in the first place. There are people on this board from other ethnic group also. Your humorless joke got stereotype all over it by thinking all Middle Eastern all all teh same so that's why you came up with the dumb Bin laden joke. If he was from Europe, you wouldn't even brought it up. So stop making stupid jokes that deal with race and any tasteless joke with Bin Laden is gonna get you into heated arguement. Just grow up.
This is a battle for which 7 footer will rule Asia. The whole of Asia is up for grabs, and only one Asian 7footer will reign their continent... Actually I don't know too much about the Iranian guy or the Iranian team. I wish I could see him play.
dude come on... I mean he was just being sarcastic... He didn't mean it... I mean so what if he did.. he was just saying Osama Bin Laden son, there is really no insult there..
Sweet, this guy is potentially the first Persian to play in the NBA. We already have had guys from Iranian backgrounds play in the NFL. Hopefully he has some game and that he will be allowed to leave Iran to develop it here on the D1 level or overseas in Europe. Man I hope he is good enough to get in the League. Oh, as a Persian I think it is very offensive to refer to him or others from Iran as Osama. Neither this guy or myself is responsible for the tyrannical religious dictatorship in Iran. It is not fair to paint him with the brush of being a terrorist. Finally, we don't like being called Arabs. They have invaded Iran countless times and have tried to force their language and customs upon us and forcibly converted most of the population to Islam. If it wasn't for the pride of the Persian people in their culture, Iran would have lost its distinct language and culture.
I've heard international scouts talking about that Iran has two 7'3"+ kids who are going to be in the NBA in a few years. I guess this guy is one of them.
