Dude, Mac is not just a product, it's a lifestyle. [/sarcasm] Though kudos for Mac to market it that way. They've made a lot of good business decisions to carve into the Windows monopoly on OSs in the late 90s and early 00s.
it's gotta make people who own a mac feel a lot better when you hear about people who can't afford one. like ou look at me, i am one of the elite. i laugh at the fools who are shopping for pcs under 1000. thats precisely the feeling apple wants. they price everything just a little bit higher where there's still a market of people who will buy it..but it's high enough than it weeds out a lot of the "poor." majority of the people have no idea that a pc and mac these days are the same hardware wise, made by the same companies and the only difference is the OSX software. and of course if apple wasn't greedy, they would let people install it on any computer. but then who would buy their overpriced hardware?
I prefer Macs, so I'm an elitist snob who doesn't know how to use computers. The irony of people here.
I have an Apple G5 thats about 5 years old. The thing that sucks for me is a lot of the stuff I want to put on it now requires the new Intel based version which mine is not. I love mine, but it blows for gaming.
please remove prole from cf vernacular and as for mac... um... if you can afford it, and you enjoy it, then be happy mon' i don't see myself paying for a macbook, doesn't make any fiscal sense
lol if you think all macbooks can do is dj and browse facebook. you do know that macs are basically the industry standard for the music and video industry right? Walk into any recording studio, you'll see Mac OSX being used. you act like the fact that hackers don't program viruses for the Mac is a bad thing. Thats one of the best parts. I love windows, but spyware and viruses are rampant. I've tried so many scanners in the past and none are really full proof. Now, if my profession didn't need the use of a Mac, I probably would never use one. But ever since I started, I see what all the hype is about. Especially for music programs. Best thing is, I didn't have to break the bank to get one. Got a used Macbook for around $600. It's not brand new, its actually one of the first models but for what I need to do, its perfect.
My personal HP laptop I have to reformat every nine months to a year due to slow downs or something or another that makes me decide it's time. I won't even talk about my work HP laptop. My Macbook is as fast as it was a year and a half ago when I pulled it out of the box and I have had zero issues with it despite the fact that I use it way more than my HP.
lol. my lenovo thinkpad > macbook pro, and a thousand dollars less. both have 2.4 c2d, mine has a gddr3 3650 and a power conserving intel x4500, which is comprable to the 9600mgt/9400m, i win on the amount of ram (im comparing the cheapest mbp) battery life is the same, my thinkpad is way more rugged. The apple tax does not make sense in bad economic times..
The price angle is a good one for MS to approach, I think. Certainly better than the rather horrible attempts they've made recently (including the new 'Hey this 7 year old can even work a computer you dumbass' ones.) And lol at the Apple haters/trolls who want so desperately to lump everyone into the stereotype they can attack. Some of you even want to call fellow BBSers idiots and 'r****ds' because of a friggin' computer. You guys are as pathetic as the hardcore, Starbucks drinking fanboys you think every mac owner is. Frankly, it's worse than Internet video game wars. That's pretty embarrassing.
What is the break down of PC users versus MAC Users Is it like 10 to 1. . . . .20 to 1. . . . ?? I think I am being very light on those two numbers Rocket River
HAHAHA!! That's nutts. I live for computers, I wouldn't shell out that much for a laptop, regardless of brand. I hate macs with a well documented passion, but there are two markets I'd love to see them invest in: netbook and small laptop. I wanna see an 8" mac, or a $400 one. It would be a very cool sight.
Apple makes nice and pretty products, but they aren't anywhere close to being scalable on an enterprise level. For a personal machine I don't have anything bad to say about them other than they are overpriced. On a larger scale though, PC's are head and shoulders above anything that Apple can offer.
Macs have way overpriced computers. You can get a laptop with comparable specs to a Macbook Pro for $500, that is less than half the price of a macbook pro. Sure, Mac OS is probably better, but not enough to justify the extra cost.
i dont want to buy one because everything is too "all in one solution" mentality. scenario: i want to buy a mac desktop. mini: overpriced, underpowered/outdated (well it was for almost 2+ years before apple just made tiny speed increments). imac: so i am stuck using apple's screen. what if 1 lil component breaks..pc is useless. for example, the screen goes bad..then what? get a whole new desktop? mac pro: seriously? 2500+ just for a desktop. i am sorry in this day and age, it's stupid to spend too much for technology. everything is replaced in 6 months or less. especially apple. u can never feel confident about spending money on apple. they very next day they will release something else.
