The outcry against Obama was started by the crazy right media, not the mainstream media. Once the crazy right made it an issue then the mainstream media picked it up. This happens all the time. It goes like this... non-event, the right wing media b****es a storm about it, the rest of the media covers it, and there's your scandal. At the time Obama was being portrayed as a sista soldier, a militant, etc. and the crazy right pounced on her comments to hype up the issue. Obama is a Democrat and it's a given that she hates her country and white people whereas Bachmann is a Republican so it's a given that she loves her country. Your whole argument is terrible.
1. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy if it's just more normal for people to do that kind of a story about an "angry black woman". 2. I'm not sure why there was a difference. 3. I disagree that what Obama said was clearly worse than what Bachmann said. I think they were the same.
its not every media outlet, its the right. and i'm not going to sit here and have some stupid argument over whether the right plays off racial misconceptions, stereotypes, and fears. if you want to deny that, so be it. its no different from the birther crap
If it is only the right wing media, wouldn't a more rational explanation be that they gave a pass to Bachmann because she is more ideologically similar to them, and have nothing at all to do with race? Of course that is entirely the opposite of the stance taken in the video (both that there was silence from all media and that it was racially motivated), but I am not surprised to see a change in tactics when the initial push was countered so effectively.
