not defending Moore, but maybe, just maybe that knucklehead from Focus on the Family shouldn't have been tempting fate by asking his people to rain out Obama's speech?

    just a thought

No, he is hoping for something much worse. He wants the RNC disrupted so badly that he is willing to sacrifice, actually celebrate, a major hurricane hitting a large populated area.

Oh wait...he hopes nobody gets hurt. Riiiiiiiiight. I have some prime farmland in Nevada to sell you if you actually believe that load of crap.

    Is that more clear?

No he wasn't. He was clearly joking. His comments may have been in bad taste, but I don't think you can construe his words to mean that he actually supports natural disasters.

It's not worse at all, RR. No one is saying that. But it reminds me a helluva lot of a Pat Robertson/Jerry Falwell statement.

I'll say that I've never seen a Moore movie, I did watch him on Opera arguing for universal health care...
so maybe he is really hoping thousands die so Republicans look worse.

    Riiiiiiiight

I think it was a stupid choice of words. But when he says "proof there is a God in heaven", that doesn't necessarily mean he thinks it's a desirable event. What he meant (I think) is that the irony of yet another New Orleans tragedy happening during the Republican convention is so overwhelming, that there must be some higher power at work.

Again, dumb choice of words. And I'm sure he realized it as soon as it left his mouth.

Big difference. Those guys were being serious, whereas Moore was clearly joking.

And they were suggesting that the victims deserved it. Moore, even when joking, did not.

    Who cares.

Listening to extremist pundits from either side is just... dumb.

Why? Were you embarrassed when Hagee said Katrina destroyed New Orleans because of the gays? Or when Falwell blamed 9/11 on feminists and gays?

They are all wrong, but I'm not going to feel embarassed, Michael Moore is the one who should be ashamed.

that's a good point. I don't think that all of one particular group is collectively responsible for the words or actions of extremists within that group.

STupid thing for Moore to say. No two ways about it. The dumbest thing is that he didn't even have to say it. All he had to do was point out how ironic that the one "religious" blow hard was getting people to pray from rain on Obama's speech and now this happens.

It is ironic, but it's horrible thing to call a positive.

What person with an IQ over 50 gives a care what Michael Moore says? He is disgraceful.

Michael Moore is a fool and a dishonest liar. Half of his tactics are based n deceit and one sided view of issues. Farenheit 9/11 was loaded with lies and ridiculous speculation.

Bowling for Columbine had some value, but was pretty bad too in some ways.
