If you really care about the subject Frontline did a pretty good breakdown of all of the different systems across the world showing pros and cons of them. I don't know if it was slanted but it was probably factual.

Please, tell me why a government is justified in making regulations to promote safety but can't do so when the threat to safety comes from weapons. Are weapons an exceptional case, shielded from all regulation by the 2nd Amendment? I'm really curious to know why you think the reason we can't have nukes in our gun closets is that they contain fissile material and not that they have massively destructive capabilities. That sounds insane to me, as I suspect it does to most people.

So let me get this straight. You're saying that weapons cannot be regulated for safety reasons, even as we regulate other things (like aircraft) for safety? A nuke is a weapon. I think we can agree on that. But neither you nor I can own a nuke. Now, your previous argument was that nukes are regulated because they contain a "controlled substance", presumably the fissile material. You imply that the government can legitimately regulate certain substances. But, according to your interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, weapons can't be regulated, even if the basis of regulation is used to control other things. Therefore, either a nuke isn't a weapon (absurd) or your interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is wrong. QED
