Apparently all Rocket fans have to confirm their allegiance with tinman before they can be labeled true Rockets fans.

Well good job for ignoring the point. No one here is saying Tmac is better than Jordan. No one is also saying Tmac's 13 in 35 is better than Jordan's legacy. What we're saying is people can be compared to Jordan because there are times when they dominate a game like what MJ did, something which apparently you can't understand. No one here said anything about your imagination, your reply has no coherence to what the other poster said at all.

there's one poster, the dude who was a chicago fan in the jordan era, who understands that throwing out "Jordanesque" is cheapening Jordan's legacy.
but you and him probably had different views of Jordan, he was a Chicago fan and it means something to him.

They didn't dominate like Jordan did. sorry. not "Jordanesque".

    This is getting comical now.

Fans now get mad if you call a players move "Jordanesque"

Jordan himself could probably give a rats ass while fans are bickering over this.

Hell Jordan probably likes his name still being referred to in todays game.

Its not just Rockets anymore. Now its all-around basketball in general.

There is some validity to the thread theme. If I go to a hockey game, see a backup player score twice and say "Wow, he's Gretzy-esque!", I'm going to look like a supreme noobhole.

The person that does that and doesnt know what they're talking about, then what? Kick them out the arena? Make them answer a questionnaire before giving them a ticket? Require that they ...... watch hours of old archive footage before they attempt to make any utterance of an informed opinion.

Cuz its Rockets-centric, its okay. And it is, or we wouldnt have sports forums, would we

    What?
overrated chucker who always settles for flat jumpers because of inability to get by opponents when the defense toughens up vs relentless scorer who goes to the basket strong when his jumper doesn't fall.

It's so ****ing frustruating to see these random comparisons pop out when some of the posters themselves never even saw Jordan play.

People better go ahead and turn off their television sets, never watch a sports station like ESPN, never read a sports magazine or news publication. Or they need to mute the volume when watching a game. Because media, broadcasters and sports writers throw out the comparisons PLENTY, and are probably more guilty of it because they COVER the game as their career profession. They should know better, yet still try to pump "The next __ __".

Is a casual fan trying to be entertained? Or are they in it to "respect" the game?

ESPN even has a threshold, they would never compare Jordan to anyone who has underachieved.

He would laugh and probably curse you out if you compare him to that dude in new york. (We saw the real MJ at his retirement). He would probably find it insulting and hold a grudge like he does against other players and coaches .

or did you not know about his hall of fame speech?

Jordan is the Gold Standard for wings. The Dream is the Gold Standard for basketball players. At least in my opinion.

The WhatIfers would not like that option.

WhatIfers - fans who wear either a #1 or #3 jersey, choice of 4 teams.
Responds to basketball threads like a wierd game of Jeorpardy

Instead of saying "What is, Who is" they use "What if"

MJ was so good we all hated him at one point. Well atleast i did. He was the complete opposite of an underdog. I was a Penny fan he was going to be great until injuries took him.

This post was tinmanesque. Rocket River isn't tinman, nor will he ever be, but his post was very similar in style to tinman's.

    DO YOU SEE NAO

well the only player that i could compare jordan to is Kobe.

Lebron James is not even a guard...he is a SF/PF type player with guard like handles and speed.

Lebron james is great..no doubt...one of the best ever to play. and for all of you who thinks lebron james is a great passer you havent seen jordan at his best.

I would only compare Jordan to an out and out winner.

One thing thats had me thinking lately though.....

If you had to chose between Lebron or Jordan.....who do you take?

You are probably going to get a longer, unbroken career out of Lebron. You know you are getting a player thats size will never be a problem, who can play a number of position, who is a great scorer, who can dominate games....

He doesn't have that ultra competitive edge Jordan had though, not yet anyway. You get the feeling Lebron needs to have a gut wrenching, career defining moment before he can get that same desire.

I think Kobe has it, he probably didn't need to be gutted to get that same desire.

Still when ever I watch Lebron and the way he completely dominates everything his team does, I can't help but wonder how Jordan and Lebron go on the same type of team with the same type of coach.

Hakeem was better than both though!
