Oh look, a TMac thread. There's a shock. The folks who I play ball with on Clutchfans say I have a Jordanesque turn around jumper.
Calling a player Jordanesque is not the same thing as saying they are just like Jordan, or as good as Jordan. I take it to mean a multi-skilled, highly athletic wing who can create shots for himself and for others at an elite level and demands double teams. Jordan satisfied that sort of role better than anyone in league history, hence the label "Jordanesque". There are very few players for which that is an fair description historically, but McGrady I'd count among them. I think the best way to put it is McGrady was "Jordanesque" in basketball talent, but he didn't have anywhere close to the same drive.
You can find players that have comparable levels of physical talent and b-ball IQ. But I have yet to see a player who has anything near the sustained, competitive fire Jordan showed through his career. That guy was "on" all the time.
It depends on what your image of Jordan is when you use the word "Jordanesque". Scoring and dunking alot could be "Dominique-esque" What I find differentiating is the championships, mvps, nba finals, dpoy, Nike, gatorade etc.
if vegetarians keep saying that tofu tastes like steak, wouldn't you tell someone who's never had a nice porterhouse that's completely wrong?
I wouldn't really be inclined to and I certainly wouldn't make threads about it. Tofu might actually be better for them. If someone said that Hakeem was better than Jordan, would you say they're wrong? Me either. I may not agree, but their entitled to it. I don't see it anywhere in Oxford or Merriam Webster's where it gives a definitive meaning to the word "Jordanesque." You need a heart tinman, time to see the wizard. Let people live how they want to, you're no more the authority on this than anyone else on this board. Now, if someone said something stupid like "Jordan wouldn't have fit into that team's plans, blah blah blah," now that deserves a flaming or a thousand. Some people simply appreciate some players more than others do, which is fine, that's all in good sense to them and simply shows an admiration for both players. There's nothing wrong with that and nobody's getting hurt. With that being said, you're entitled to your opinions too .
some people will go to the Summit in their afterlife, and some people will be stuck in the 1st round forever.
Haha, that's not really what I did, but if it floats your boat then you just compared Mac to Hakeem .
Tinman doesn't know what to do now that T-Mac shows he can still play so he does what he always does. Even though he is no longer a Rocket, he turns to his old ways and bashes T-Mac.
