He should take all Brewer's minutes and some at PF so that will probably be 20-25. His offensive game makes up for his defense, just like Harden so..but J.B. will probably shock us all and play Terrence Jones for example instead of Beasley.
Ariza is at best an average wing defender this year and KJ destroys spacing unless there are other shooters on the floor. It's not that easy to find effective lineups that minimize Beasley's liabilities.
Yup, it'll probably lead to the team being much better defensively which will be awful. If only we could make more time for yet another defensive liability.
Rotation should be something like: Bev...35 Harden...38 Ariza...38 Dmo/Smoove/Trez (whatever they're the 5th best starter)...20 Dwert...35 Beasley...20 Capela...15 KJ...15 Baby Mamba...10 Spot minutes elsewhere/whatever PF listed above comes off the bench...14 This of course fluctuates based off of how well guys may or may not be playing and matchups.
This is one of the problems with the Rockets, there is no consistency. Beasely should be getting more minutes based off his offensive prowess. And to just give him 5 minutes these last two games shows you why JB is not qualified. He's happy watching Harden try and do it all himself. Smh
Rockets scored 259 points in the last 2 games - you think they really were missing Beasley's offense that much?
Against 2 of the worst teams. I think if Beasley is obviously a game changer, creator....... he should be playing meaningful minutes down the stretch. It makes no sense to me why he is all of a sudden benched.
We were also playing teams with a combined record of 38-124 Next week we're playing a team that's 73-9
You're not stopping GS offensively. You need to keep scoring pace with them to keep it close at the end and let Harden do his thing or hope a few lucky balls bounce are way, etc. You can't seriously expect us to lock a 73 win team down after the season we've had? We don't even deserve to be in this thing. And you're talking about defense against a 73 win team. Besides, Beasley can defend just fine. Green isn't going to light us up as a scorer. Not like Dmo or Tjones or Smoove have been any better at D this season than Beasley. He gives effort. He's not a liability like Harden.
Agreed, adding an extra defensive liability to lineups full of them is certainly a "game changer", having Beasley in the game late is a big part of why the Rockets lost the most recent game against the Bulls. Sure he is a volume shooter and can sometimes score a lot of points if he's making his shots but when he's giving up easy points on the other side, it's not good to have him in. I think he can be used off the bench against opposing bench players to help the bench unit score points, but he's just too terrible on defense to have him in the game during crunch time. The main difference between this year's Rockets and last year's Rockets is defense. The defense this year has fallen off a cliff and anything we can do to make that defense better is what is best for the team. The Rockets score enough points for the most part, they don't prevent opposing teams from scoring enough though.
So since you "aren't stopping them" you should make it easier for them? Solid plan. Also if you don't realize that DMo and Smith are better defenders than Beasley then I understand why you are wrong and it's okay. Player evaluation isn't for everyone.
Don't even think about defense. Only chance we have is getting ridiculously red hot from 3 since we take just as many as GS and hope they are colder than usual. That's the absolute only chance. Offensive rebounding for 2nd chance opportunities will be huge too.
You speak like a man who expects this thing to be a battle. Sorry pal. Were an awful team that doesn't even deserve to be in the playoffs playing against the defending champions coming off the most wins in NBA history. I'm not sure that's sunk in for you. You're going to be severely disappointed if you think were the same team that was in the WCF last season(and even that team was overachieving + needed a miracle).
I don't expect that at all, I'm just not a fan of putting our worst defensive players on the court against a really really good offensive team. The Rockets don't really have problems with offense, they have problems with defense, and you propose to make that defense even worse than it has to be.
You've made some very solid points. Bobby is a trip so nothing you say will be up to his flawed level of basketball. We've will have to play our best ball to even have at upsetting the Champs.
