They won't get the true death penalty, but the NCAA gonna come down hard. Slash scholarships, and a multi-year bowl ban.
It's bad, but nothing will ever be "SMU-level". SMU level is when a school defies the NCAA and is directly involved in organizing payments to players. Nothing in football has been that corrupt. Not Alabama, not Ohio State, not Auburn, not USC, not UNC, and not Miami. But for the amount of players allegedly involved, this could be the worst since SMU. I anticipate we'll be seeing more from other schools int he coming months (notably the SEC).
A few NFL players responses to questions about this whole thing. Didn't see this anywhere yet. http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/sto...ions?icid=main|hp-laptop|dl5|sec1_lnk3|222253 A few of our guys: Texans WR Andre Johnson (via Houston Chronicle) “It is what it is, man. I really don’t have much to say about it. The guy’s in trouble, and he’s trying to take everybody down with him. I’m really not worried about it. ... “You kind of get upset about it, but at the same time, you can’t control what anybody says. He knows and I know what really happened. It’s over. It’s done with. The NCAA is handling it, and we’ll just move on.” Texans OT Eric Winston (via Houston Chronicle) “It’s unfortunate. We have to deal with it and move on. Sure, you’re surprised when something like this comes out. It’s unfortunate that a guy like that got as close as he did with the program, but a lot of colleges are dealing with the same kind of thing. I heard the name, but I didn’t know him and I couldn’t pick him out of a lineup. “Sure, anytime you have a guy who, obviously, has the character he has and gets that close to the program it’s worrisome. We have to deal with it as a program, as a family and keep pushing forward.” Texans C Chris Myers (via Houston Chronicle) “To be honest with you, it was a surprise to me. I was there five years. I knew the guy was around, but I didn’t know all that stuff was going on. Every story I read is new stuff to me. It’s a shame, but it’s a one-sided story right now. I’m anxious to see how it all pans out. He’s in prison. He can say anything he wants to say. It’s a real shame, dragging down a program right now. There’s always two sides to every story.”
I wish they would just be honest and say "hell yeah, I was poor and 19 and working my asss off on the football field, you're damn right i took the money....I did all the work."
Should I have to elaborate? Or can you take it from there? You said nothing would ever be SMU-level bad? Really? Again, dead babies breh... white people love babies. Miami is ****ed.
maybe they are being honest. Of course some players get benefits but automatically assuming guilt is a bit much
Q: did you accept benefits from this guy? A: “It is what it is, man. I really don’t have much to say about it" This is an honest response?
maybe....is an extremely vague answer so it's hard to say exactly what he's trying to say. That he received them? That he knows people received them? is this an honest answer? again, i agree players did get benefits but i'm not going to assume guilt right off the bat.
Really brah? What insight gives you the knowledge to say "death penalty"? Nice opinion you got there. Never mind the fact that Miami has been cooperating with the NCAA for months (SMU didn't), the NCAA essentially admitting they don't dole out TV bans or are interested in killing a program, and the majority of those in the media not expecting the death penalty to be considered either. Will it be harsh? Sure, and even more so than other schools since Miami doesn't have the resources like big state schools. A 2-3 year bowl ban and 30+ reduction in scholarships might still be enough to "kill" Miami's program. But go ahead and elaborate and proselytize, dude.
the abortion thing is not a big deal other than its a devisive topic. seriously, players got cars, really? i don't care

If Penn State does not get the "death penalty" for what took place at its institution, then Miami does not deserve it.
