The only way I can see it happen is if Miami ships off BOTH Banks and Blount with the #2 pick, and receive Elton Brand without any long-term contracts.

They have a core of Brand/Wade/Marion plus cap flexibility. With that squad, they can run Chris Quinn at PG and Dorrell Wright at SF:

    Brand
    Marion
    Wright
    Wade
    Quinn

That team, given depth (they have MLE, LLE and will receive players back in trade) they can compete in the East. Plus, their PF/C rotation would eat teams alive with their quickness, but unlike other quick teams, both those guys are rebounding/shotblocking monsters.

    Great stuff.

On the other hand, they can keep Rose/Beasley, but then have to wait for Blount/Banks to expire before they have any flexibility.

Even if you could trade T-Mac or Yao for the number two pick, which you can't unless Chicago is way under the cap, the Rockets or any sensible gm would never do it.

In the real world, Chicago would have to put other players in the deal to match salaries. To do that they would have to include substantial players which would screw up the whole reason for going for a win it now veteran in the first place.

I didn't post this article, because I thought the Rockets could get in the bidding for the second pick. I posted because I thought some of the comments pertaining to Heinrich and Calderon were interesting and could de-bunk some of the "let's get Calderon" themes.
