I've never understood the hate for Juwan Howard around here. It must be due to that 100 million dollar deal he never lived up to. No. He was never a max player, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good guy to have on your team. He was solid for us. He's always been solid. He's always worked hard and played hard. As Drexler would say, he's a "consummate professional". And, in addition to the fact he was a solid back up for Portland last season, he's a solid locker room guy. Great pick up for the Heat.
Dude, he was awful for the Rockets. A big man who only shoots 2pt jumpers, meaning even if he was good at that one skill his overall scoring efficiency is awful. Poor rebounding and defense. Less blocks per game than many point guards. Too old and slow to complement Yao. I believe someone once showed some +/- pair stats for the team, and Yao with any other Rocket was was a +. Every other Rocket with the exception of Juwan, that is.
I called all of the signings except Miller. I didn't think he would take less to win with the Heat, but I knew Haslem would. Ilgauskas / Haslem Bosh / Howard LeBron / Miller Wade / Head Chalmers / House?
Howard's a great pickup for (probably) the league minimum. I'm betting he'll help them more than Big Z this season. Man, the Heat may actually have a competitive roster after all.
The Blazers were only lacking b/c Juwan was there in the first place. CURSE!! Who knows, even a front office discussing Juwan Howard as an option for your team could be inviting evilness to envelope the team.
wallacesports Heat guard Mario Chalmers suffers high ankle sprain in pickup game in Miami and will be in cast 2-4 weeks. Juwan already putting his powers to work?
