Trust me, S.Marion was big part of Suns run and gun offense. I m sure Suns will regret this nonsense trade.. Shaq is old/fat and his days are over. Soon or later, hes gonna sit at the bench just like Mutombo and eats up Suns' salary cap.. extremely horrible news for Suns in my opinion. Suns could have gotten so much better player than Old Shaq.

Exactly, losing Marion hurts but Shaq's positives combined with the more than capable Suns players can fill the void left by Marion.

Don't put words in my mouth -- I said that the Suns management seem to have made up their minds that it's not going to work. While I do agree that they were in need of a real post presence who could defend the Duncans and Yaos and Boozers and be an offensive weapon, Shaq was the absolute worst option they could have gone for. Like others have said, Gasol would have fit them a LOT better, and even though he is not known for his defense, he's still better than O'Neal in his current form. Then you consider the fact that they were already in talks for players like Okafor before they heard the Mavs wanted Shaq and switched into panic mode...

Ultimately the Suns still had the best offense in the NBA. But as it is now, it looks like they're throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and whatever window of opportunity they had may have sealed shut for good. Nash isn't getting any younger himself.

Add Scola to it too. He is more experienced but still is a rookie. We will be hard pressed to make the playoffs, but at least our future looks brighter by their additions.

While it would be encouraging to see the Rockets make a move to upgrade the point guard position ...

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this Rockets squad next year. I'm really high on Landry -- he really looks like a go-to offensive option at the 4 who can be a threat for 20/10 any given night with enough touches. You put an explosive player like him next to Yao and McGrady, add role players like Battier and Scola ... I don't see any reason why we can't compete with anyone in the West. Even the Lakers.

Really? Nash has nothing to do with it? Did you mean "defensively?"

Uh, LeBron is the biggest of the guys you just mentioned. If Raja can guard LeBron he can guard the others.

And of course the Suns lose a versatile player in Marion, but they gain a legitimate center and another interior shot-blocker.

I guess we will soon find out how all this plays out. I'd love to revisit this thread in late May/June.

I think he meant Kobe since he's the only super swingmen that is not mentioned. And plus Raja and Kobe have a little rivalry going on.

This trade proposal only underlines the fact that the Suns were idiots for not trading either Amare or Marion for Garnett in the summer. Garnett fits much better than Shaq in their system and is younger. Doing this trade might make them better this year, but almost certainly makes them worse next year and beyond. People saying Steve Nash will break down are over-reacting. I think he can have a Stockton-esque impact on the game until he is 40.

the problem is; after nearly 50 games the rockets are worse than 8 teams in the west and those teams are looking to, or just got better.

standing pat, and letting the young guys develop is called tanking.

not that surprising. steve kerr is a huge shaq fan and probably believes shaq still has some game left. and he may be right. shaq can still dominate when he's motivated as shown in the game vs Yao this season.

after 50 games of injuries, new coach, new system, players struggling to the system, rotation changes...

only in the past 15 games or so have we played with the same rotation night in and night out.

Didn't you get my point the are not a top 8 because the didn't have Landry and Brooks early in the season and Scola wasn't playing like now. (And t-mac missing 15 games)

We problably the only team that can still have a 58 wining % without one of the 2 superstar missing 15 games out 48.

The record is worthless in the playoff, is how you been playing when at that moment and now we are one of the hottest team in NBA. (and be in the playoff by the AllStar break.)

"standing pat, and letting the young guys develop is called tanking."

What the hell are you talking about, did the Rox tank when they play SAM and second year Horry in the way to the first NBA title?

Maybe the Rockets are getting better.

But it should be obvious that just about every other team in the Western Confernce in playoff contention is doing the same thing.

We do need a point guard upgrade and a dependable shooter....I hope that Mike James can eventually fill the point guard consistency but his indecisiveness on the offensive end is a killer.....I would love to see Mike James get more time and would like for the Rockets to make a good attempt at Mike Miller.....

    And what are you scared?????

I'm not, thats why you play the game, names and records don't win you nothing. Cosing Dallas Mavericks and NE Patriots

Let me tell you, the last 4 years the 2 teams with the best record in each conference hasn't going to the NBA finals.

I'm not scared. If the Rockets lose a playoff series I'm not going to be personally injured.

On the other hand, as a fan, I don't really feel that good looking at all the movement in the Western Conference recently. Quite frankly, it gives me a stomach ache. I don't understand how people can look at the Rockets and think everything's okay right now.
