i'm not saying it detracts from wade's game a whole lot, obviously it's a defect in both nash and wade's game...but you take the great with the small bad that comes with them. all i was saying is...why include a negative stat to support the idea that wade is good? why not just list the positives when arguing for wade's game?
Shaq is old, slow, banged up, and worn out. The guy isn't the same. Plus they have too many chiefs and not enough indians on that team.
They need to give my boy Zo more minutes dammit! It's fact that the Heat outplay opponents when he is in the game b/c he shuts down the other team's penetration and interior game which leads to fastbreaks (see the recent game against the Fakers as an example; when Zo was in, the Heat stormed back. Shaq came back in and they declined.) At least play both of them together in stretches!!!
why would svg resign after turning that team around and after getting 3 minutes away from reaching an nba finals the year before? he was in his 2nd or 3rd year as head coach, there was no evidence that he didn't want to coach anymore. to me it doesn't make any sense why he would resign without being pushed out. and the fact that you don't know the guard's name on indiana that is "fat" should be a sign that he isn't that good. only "fat" guard on indiana i can think of is anthony johnson, a backup, and he's a decent player but far from good. you can be fat and be on an nba roster, sure, but i can't remember one fat player who was very good. when barkley got big towards the end of his career his play declined, and so is shaq's. shaq isn't a great player anymore. he's good but he's not dominant anymore partly because of age and mostly because of conditioning.
i understand what you are saying, i'm right there with you. i wouldn't include his TO's or 3 pt. shooting in arguing for him. i was just stating that sometimes other people (not you) will try to tear a great player down because isn't good at one or two things. he may be great at everything else but those one or two things is all someone will focus on.
There is evidence that he didn't want to coach- He quit! And he cited family reasons. The truth is you have no evidence that he got pushed out. That's why your only evidence is that you think there is no evidence he wasn't pushed out. That's not evidence. Yes, Anthony Johnson is the fat guy who plays guard. You think if Jordan had a beer belly that he wouldn't be good? Maybe he wouldn't be a 30 ppg, 6 championship ring guy. But he would be a 22 ppg, 2 championship ring guy. There you go- a fat guy who is good. It's common in other sports- Babe Ruth, Bettis, etc.
Did you just write a post talking about what is or isn't evidence, and then 3 lines later use an imaginary fat Jordan with imaginary stats and imaginary rings as your evidence of a fat player that's good?
I never claimed to have specific evidence of a fat player being good. He claimed to know for a fact that SVG got pushed out, and he said it with nothing to back it up. I only backed up a hunch with harmless speculation. It's like when you you are sitting around a campfire talking about the possible existence of aliens or ghosts. That's me in this thread. Hakeem06 on the other hand is a lawyer (in this thread) walking into the courtroom and trying to convict someone of murder because he has gut feeling and presenting that gut feeling like it's a DNA blood test linking the guy to the crime.
i've played about every sport imanginable. you have to be well conditioned along with a great skill set to be good at basketball. you are CONSTANTLY on the move in basketball, using every single muscle in your body. you don't get to stop for nearly a minute at a time between plays. you can't be fat in basketball and be good. if jordan were 6'6 240, he probably would have been the 12th man off the bench because he couldn't use the great skills he had more than 5 minutes at a time, he wouldn't be able to play more than 15 minutes a ball game at that weight. he wouldn't be the jordan we know if he wasn't in shape. you can't compare basketball conditioning to really any other conditioning except soccer. and if you really do believe svg quit because he wanted to spend more time with his family, then go ahead. i don't believe all the crap that people tell us sometimes, you have to read between the lines and examine a situation. if you examined the situation and you concluded an up and coming coach who was minutes away from the nba finals in just his 3rd season as an nba head coach just wanted to call it quits, you my friend are wrong.
He couldn't have gotten any less out of them. Also, 6th-best in the league is not good for the way that team is built and the expectations they have. The coach got pushed out to win a championship - they're not on the right track.
I don't know. Could you do better than Anthony Johnson or Jerome Bettis? Those guys run around a the highest professional level. And Shaq is pretty fat, too.
i'm not claiming to be a professional athlete but to be very good at a sport like basketball, you have to be well conditioned. no matter how great your skills are, if you can't play a majority of a game your impact won't be felt night in, night out. if you are out shape and overweight, your performance WILL be hindered and you WILL be more susceptable to injury. that's just the nature of the sport. also, anthony johnson and jerome bettis "run around" part time in their sports. neither one of them is a starter and neither one see the field or floor a whole hell of a lot. jerome has become a situational back who gets around 7-8 carries a game, and doesn't play in over half of the offensive plays. anthony johnson is a career 19 minutes a game player averaging about 10 starts a season. they aren't "great" players (jerome isn't anymore). that's the argument here, not whether out of shape players are playing in the NBA, but are they GREAT, and no shaq isn't great anymore because of his conditioning.
Yes I agree that you have to be in good shape. But how does fat percentage correlate? Look at offensive linemen in the NFL, they take a total beating. RBs like Bam Morris looked fat their whole careers. Anyways I agree being fat is bad for an athlete's career. But I still think SVG quit for family reasons.
