It's not just what you can get for Beal. The Miami deal gets them out of Wall's contract.

What's that worth to them? That would be the determining factor.

Yeah, and the Wizards are really a difficult team to read.

I 100% remember reading a couple of years ago that Wall was not available in trade talks cause he was the owner's favourite player, during the last season it was reporter literally the same thing about Beal so, yeah. If i'm the Wizards, if someone is willing to clean my books and take on Wall's contract while giving me some good value back (Bam), i think i'd do that trade over taking back a couple of interesting picks from Boston, NOLA or L.A.

I hate to say it, but i think Riley might have a real chance here if Washington has interest in unloading Wall, the Heat are in a good position to take back that contract, they could work to sign a top free agent next summer otherwise, but the names available are not exactly better players then Wall, we're talking about Drummond, Derozan, Conley...unless they're confident in their ability to convince Davis to bolt they might very well go all in with Beal and Wall. I'm pretty sure Riley would hate to lose Bam, but without him if i'm Washington i don't even sit on the table.

If I were New Orleans I wouldn't let Zion anywhere near John Wall.

I agree but i don't think the Pelicans would have interest if they have to take back Wall, same for Boston and other teams like the Clippers. Miami on the other hand...i don't know, i feel like they're a team which could very well do it.

yea Pat Riley is crazy enough to do it. I just want to see it happen because a Butler/Beal/Wall trio is bound to implode sooner rather than later and there's no way for Riley to get out of Wall's contract.

Are the Heat really willing to do that though? That would surprise me.

You'd be in the LT for the duration of that and you'd have $40 million committed yearly through 2023 for a player with no definitive timetable to return, who may never be good again, etc.

    Why?

They're trading away valuable rotation pieces just to get one star... now doing the same to trade for another......?

They will not be a contender if they gut their team for two all-star players. I love Beal but he and Butler simply can't carry hot garbage through the Raptors, Sixers, Celtics, and Bucks to get to the Finals.

On the other hand, we are still contenders in the West and will be in an even better position to make moves with our existing MLE either during the offseason or as buyout candidates emerge throughout the NBA season.

You guys tend to overreact and lack the simplest of reasoning before doing so.

Yep let’s completely gut our core to get a shooting guard, a position we definitely need.

    Stop it.

Yes, in a heart beat. If Wall comes back at just 50% he is better than what Paul will be in two years if his decline continue.

    That's the rumor.

It's really one of the few ways for them to improve quickly but I agree the hit would be huge.

Pretty simple, we're not talking about using cap space but instead deals that expire in the next 2 years. All you have to do is to send out equal or slightly more salary than you are receiving.

The Heat have lots of big salaries to use. Here's an example:

Beal and Wall together make $65M in salary.

So the Heat sends back Anderson, Dragic, Olynyk, and Waiters who make a combined $65.1M.

Works cap-wise, they are still under the Hardcap/Apron.

:After next season Anderson and Dragic come off the books. The following year Olynyk and Waiters along with Mahihimi and Simmons expire.

That's just one example but as I said, Miami has no shortage of big salaries to mix and match. Maybe they include Johnson and his $14,4M salary or Miles Leonard and his $10M salary. Leonard's deal is done on 2020 so maybe Miami gets to dump a few extra million in the deal in exchange for loading up on deals that expire in 2020 rather than 2021.

Of course, if Washington really wants to push it then they can try and make Miami absorb Mahimi's deal in this trade too. Just depends how desperate Miami is.

It's simple to make the deal work cap wise. It's just a matter of if Miami is willing to take on Wall's contract. Miami could actually lower their payroll for this season but they'd be blowing it up for the subsequent years.

Until the Wizards get a permanent GM, hard to see them doing anything drastic.
