Mestizos being defined in my sources as "a person of mixed race esp. the offspring of Spaniards and 'American Indians.' If they were half spaniards, why were they revolting? If it was just because the "Caucasian" government was oppressive, then why include the (somewhat misleading) racial nomenclature, why not just say "oppressive govt?"
