You got it, BOSS. Sorry I came in late, BTW, gotta work ,you know-- OFFICIAL STATE RESPONSE: Poverty in our contry, señor? What Poverty? "Ay, no. El Gordo COME MUCHO. Es El Problema!" Don't tell me he's got a disorder. Can't close the mouth, that's a tough disorder to overcome.
are you comparing this same situation to a comedy show? I dont know what kind of garbage you watch, but I dont watch those kinds of shows.
The picture kind of reminds me of the story about the guy with the world's largest tumor. It was so big he could actually SIT on it
that was the first link I found when I searched for obesity and hypothyroidism I am not bitter towards obese people. this guy is insanely morbidly obese and you don't get that fat unless you try and have people who are complicit in your selfdestruction. physical medical conditions don't cause you to gain half a ton. it is sad that this guy got to this point.
There were a couple of people estimated to be heavier than this guy... I think a couple of them were estimated 1400-1600 lbs. In many of these people's cases, it's not necessarily overeating that causes the problem. http://www.dimensionsmagazine.com/dimtext/kjn/people/heaviest.htm Some of the people on that page were running 7 miles 3 times a week and/or were "light eaters" apparently. It's sad really.
This is a very random topic for my first post, but I just joined and the Rockets aren't playing so here goes. swilkins is right, hypothyroidism doesn't cause weight gain if its treated. Usually you just take a pill a day and you're basically normal. However, if you aren't under treatment, and its a severe case, your metabolism can be very low, you can have a lot of weight gain (although that dude would be a pretty extreme case). That being said, hypothyroidism isn't that hard to diagnose, I'm pretty sure the doctors would have figured it out by now if the guy had it.
one was a runner that was over 300 lbs and then she started eating over 15000 calories a day. like I said you don't get to 1000 pounds unless you try. anyhow most of those people seemed to be naturally big and then became addicted to eating. its seems like its almost like being any other kind of addict
isn't that basically a medical condition? i mean you or i probably couldn't get to 1000 if our lives depended on it. the amount of food you'd have to eat for an extended period of time would be crazy. i couldn't eat that much over and over w/o getting sick and not wanting to see food for a while. but these people are different. plus, i'm guessing a lot of the 1200 is fluids or something. i rememeber some other thread (maybe about hyperthyroidism) where some person lost like 200 pounds in a week b/c they basically had a crapload of accumulated fluid they were losing, not b/c they were actually losing weight. i'm not sure you can be a solid 1200 just on fat, muscle, and tissue. and that Great Wall of China biker guy is always what i think of when people are making fun of something in here. that set the bar pretty high for what can't be made fun of.
Ha. I'd like to see yalls tubby guts. These threads are what we call comparitive self esteem builders.
all i'm saying is everyone laughs at jokes about someone else's misfortune all the time. when you go to a comedy show, it's alot of jokes about someone else's misfortune and you laugh at them. you're not exactly immune from this. and i'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that we all do it.
Some of the causes of ridiculously morbid obesity like this is genetic/chemical which eventually leads to binge eating. I don't think I could eat fried chicken for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 5 meals in between and gain that much weight. After reading about these people, I had to read about the causes - so off to the Internet I went... err stayed. Hyperphagia is a disorder that can cause this massive weight gain. It's also a disorder that can result from something alled Prader-Willi Syndrome which is a genetic disorder (missing genes on chromosome 15). It's not a simple matter of "stop eating" in many of these cases. Some of these people were 200-300 lbs before they were even teens. That's scary.
Border towns are probably a different story. Although Brownsville has more anglo beggars than hispanic beggars.
I was told this a year ago and I have yet to see a hispanic person beg for money at a gas station or on a street corner. It's just a Houston observation. Most are begging for you to buy chiclets.
