Absolutely, and heck I even think Artest has been riding the Rockets and James Harden on twitter as of late, because he caught wind that he might be amnestied. If he is willing to take the Vet minimum with a team option in the 2nd year, we should be more than willing to bring him aboard. He can still shoot the 3, and would be a nice rotation guy coming off the bench with this defensive intensity. Im all for it. Royce white is out, so we have room for one more head case, and in Houston, he was on his best behavior.
I would be willing to take on Ron Artest as a Power Forward only. He would be the best PF on the team right now. He can step out and hit the three and he is strong enough to guard any other PF in the League. He would be a very short term investment / insurance while we decide if DMo, TJones or GSmith can play the 4 at high level. I would not give him anything more than a 1 year vet minimum though and I would absolutely not want him at the 3.
Metta World Peace? So if the Lakers get rid of him...I know that he isn't what he used to be. But my thought is this - who on our team guards LeBron? Who guards KD? If we can get Metta at a discount, I think we should look into it...he is one of the few SF who has enough muscle to defend LBJ if we meet them in the finals. Take a look at the finals matchup, with a lineup we could run vs the heat: Lin (or Beverley) vs Chalmers - we have advantage Harden vs D Wade - we have big advantage Metta vs LeBron - obviously they have advantage, but Metta could certainly slow him down more than anyone on our team Parsons vs Bosh - yes Chander may be a SF, but I feel like he could guard the sissy Bosh better than he could guard LBJ D12 vs Birdman - obv we win. This team still needs someone to guard LBJ and KD. And maybe metta fills that need.
I'd put in a bid of 500,000 in the blind auction. If we get him for that great! We can find a spot on the bench for him.
Given that MWP was amnestied (IE, the Lakers pay the balance of the contract), I think it could be possible to get MWP at a reasonable price IF he's willing to come to Houston and he doesn't get scooped up by someone else. MWP gets paid either way so being able to snag MWP at a deep discount wouldn't be a bad thing, especially if it's short term for flexibility.
Do not want MWP!!! He loves Kobe more than Dwight plus he sneakily KO'd Harden. Basketball-wise, he is like C.Bosh liking the 3s and not liking the physical play, except those that will get him highlights. This year's playoffs, he shot 14% from 3s, half of his shots are from outside the arc. Down 0-3, he called it quits. Forget Peace with Ronny!!!
