In official scoring a DP cannot be assumed (one of the stupider scoring rules). On that particular play all they could reasonably assume was an out at first or second, thus the runner would still have been at 3rd with one out and would have scored on the SF.
Apparently the Mets will be getting Soriano imminently. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8742437/ He could help them a lot.
Honestly, I don't think you could necessarily count on a double-play on that particular play because Beltran runs so well. Plus 3-6-3 and 3-6-1 double plays are just tougher to execute because whoever covers first really has to hustle to get over to the bag.
Great game, great win. I just finished moving my stuff to my new house. I was in and out of my truck listening to the game. I gotta admit, I was yelling in celebration in my truck while driving when Ausmus had his 2nd rbi of the night. what a win!
"(The booing) hurt me, but I tried to block it. You're going to hear everything they say, because I'm real close. But the only thing I can do is try to focus on the game." - Beltran Awww, poor baby. Great job to everyone who went to the game. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3287373
That would be huge, and change the WC picture completely. Rangers would be idiots to part with Soriano.
In the article the writer said that all Beltran did was not sign with the Astros, he did more then that, he waited until the last freakin' minute.
