According to Dierker, Backe was on the home plate umpire during the game for not making the pitcher (I assume Glavine) come to a complete stop in his windup with runners on base.
Man... Garner is on fire. Starts Bruntlett... and the guy goes deep in his first AB. Maybe he just LOVES to play on Sunday.
Did you see how that jackass stood there after he hit it, and started into his home-run trot? You know he hates Roy big-time... and he really wanted to do some damage. It was just that much better that he lined into a double play (thanks to the $119 million dollar man having pretty slow reflexes). I like it how the 'Stros are playing the Bee noise for Bruntlett as well... it applies to everybody w/ a B!
The Mets arguing this is pretty stupid... if the umpire said ball 4, that's the only reason Lance started to walk as well. It wasn't as if they had him "picked off", and the umpires decided to give him a second life... it was the umps fault, not Lance's. In the end, this whole thing probably won't mean much to the final score anyways...
I know Roy hasn't allowed the Mets on the scoreboard yet, but he hasn't looked as dominant so far... the Mets are making him work pretty hard. Hopefully we can get some more runs, and he can settle down a little.
