8 I think, by the immortal Jim Deshais against the Dodgers. It was the first 8 he faced, and the ******* Tommy Lasorda pulled his pitcher in the bottom of the third for a pinch hitter, who grounded out.

Tommy was roundly booed that day.

    Edit:

September 23rd he set a major-league record by striking out the first eight Dodgers he faced before journeyman Larry See (whom manager Tommy Lasorda had chosen to pinch-hit for starting pitcher Dennis Powell to break the string) popped out.

OK, found it. Deshaies has the record for most K's in a row to start a game. The major league record for K's in a row at any time:

Most Consecutive Strikeouts—10, Tom Seaver, New York N.L. vs. San Diego, April 22, 1970.

Interesting decision here. Do you hit Clemens and let him pitch the 7th or do you pinch hit?

We're not losing... you don't make that decision with a pitcher throwing this well, and your team actually is tied or has the lead.

You're not the only one. I think the majority of male Astros fans have developed a completely healthy and completely non-homosexual crush on Roger Clemens.

His 9th win in his 8th start? He's good, but not that good.

If Jeff Kent had even a slightly better eye he'd be one of the very best hitters in baseball.

Some of the pitches he swings at are truly horrible, and it's even worse, since he's not an especially great bad ball hitter.
