Many bus routes will run every 15 minutes 15 hours a day 7 days a week. This is a change in philosophy towards frequency over coverage. Though I think 7-8 minutes is a better frequency this is still an improvement because midday and weekend the frequency is terrible right now.

Of course weekend will always be "terrible"!

There are less people working and less people needing to get downtown to work downtown and not transfer. The 15 minutes 15 hours a day 7 days a week frequency is lunatic. Just space out the routes based on usage!

No wonder they charge a lot more money... they don't know how to do this efficiently.

And why do they need another domain just for this "initiative"? Couldn't they just bit.ly it or ridemetro.org/reimagine ?!?!? I swear, they like to waste money on crappy "solutions" and the consumer is the one that ends up paying more for it.

Wow, this is a major change. I guess I'm glad I took that long a** survey, haha

Edit: I encourage folks to actually look at the redesigned map

As da1 already mentioned, they are increasing frequency by decreasing coverage. What this translates to is having some folks transfer where they didn't have to before. For example, if you look at Bellaire, there is will only be one route instead of the nearly 5 routes that currently run along it (at certain portions).

Bottom line, unless you need to go straight down a main road, you'll have to transfer (I'm looking at you Swoly ;))

Well, looks like I'd have to take the train to the Downtown Transit Center, then get a bus home, instead of just walking five blocks to a bus.

I'll have to start driving in.

Trains run every six minutes so that shouldn't be a big deal.

My only thing is some of these roads like Richmond and westheimer and bellaire should have dedicated bus lanes.

Most busses are spaced out about 30 mins for me, so nice if they do cut it to 15 mins. Houston is too damn hot to be waiting for 30 mins outside, plus the usual 10 minute walk to the bus stop its self.

When does this go into effect? I stopped taking the PnR because the local bus only comes to my office complex every 40 minutes.

I don't see the Trans-Siberian 68 on there anywhere. Straight shot from Cougar Place to K&G and first half of the Burlington/Sharpstown trip.

That's good news. However, it should be closer to 5 minutes. Real-time transit information that is 100% accurate would help immensely. People take out their smartphones, and the app shows the bus is 3 miles away or 10 minutes. Knowing makes time go by faster. You can also go do something else knowing how quickly to get back to the stop for the bus.
