Thats fair. Each Metallica fan has their own taste. What I didnt make clear was that I completely dig Cyanide. The album is just that good. When you say "Death Magnetic" are you referring to "My Apocalypse?"

Yeah, My Apocalypse. I remembered that James says "Death Magnetic" in the song, so I thought that was the title since that is what they named the album.

Then you are probaly right that we will disagree, because more songs on the album are of the My Apocalypse pace than that of Cyanide.

Whatever, how about I just wait for you to listen to it and decide for yourself, lol...what a concept :D

:D Yeah, I'll give it a listen tonight or tomorrow. I don't think it is the pace, necessarily. I mean, my favorite Tallica tune of all time is Battery. That songs plays at a breakneck pace. It's more the fluidity of the melody. I don't know, I'm not very good at putting my musical thoughts into words. Then again, some songs just need time to grow on you and I've only heard My Apocalypse once, I think. It took me 2-3 listens of St. Anger before I really started appreciating most of the tracks.

Well, if you could accept that trash, then Im not worried about you liking the new disc. Look forward to your mini-review.

the new songs make me want to see a name change. from this day forward, "metallica" will now be known as "mellatica". yea...that makes about as much sense as my comprehension of these new songs. i understand where Raven Lunatic is coming from as far as fluidity of the melody. i'm still trying to digest. my intestinal tract doesn't quite understand what i'm trying to feed it with these new songs. i need to listen some more i take it. lol

Yeah, if you purchase them with your AMEX, you are eligible for the presale on Monday morning.

i was bored with Cyanide, except during the bridge and solos. The Day That Never Comes was excellent. However, is Lars still having jam sessions with Oscar the Grouch? his drums stand out too much and it takes away from the songs.

i like it although i'm not completely sold on it just yet. i'm not sure it is something i would spin regularly. but, in all fairness, i need to hear the rest of the album. some parts of these songs...i don't get. it's almost as if the song is trying to do too much. it feels all over the place.

OK, I just gave the whole album a spin and overall, I dig it. I still think The Day That Never Comes is a Bleeding Me rip off and dumbed down. However it is better than their last release.....BY FAR.

Listened to the whole thing today and I really dig it. Not QUITE getting all the way back to their roots, but closer to And Justice for All than any of their other albums that came after. Cyanide is still one of my favorite songs, but you are right, Chuck 4, in that most of the album is of that quality. Plus, this is from listening to it start/stop at work since I can't really do any one task sitting at my desk for more than 10 minutes or so, it seems. When I finally buy the CD and can listen to it all the way through on my ride to and from work, that will be a much better gauge of which songs I prefer.

Glad youve liked what you have heard.

Its weird not to hear everyone completely bashing Metallica anymore (Not talking about you, mostly the idiots over on Blabbermouth.net). I was guilty of this myself and, as with the Mario Williams pick, the crow tastes delicious.

Now I get to turn my attention back to the seemingly never ending addiction that has been Axl Roses's mythical Chinese Democracy...Yeah, I dont understand why I still care either...

Do you mean bad as in badass? Or just plain bad? Its the only track Im not completely digging. Kind of dredges on until close to the 4 minute mark. Kirks solos keep it from being lousy, IMO.

Broken, Beat & Scarred is pretty brutal. Love the "Show your scars!" part. All Nightmare Long is still my fave though.

I think my favorite so far is That Was Just Your Life. Great way to open an album.

Yeah, it has that "Blackened" feel to it. Good buildup and fantastic solo. I knew from the first time it hit the refrain that this record was going to own.
